Beach cart ramp project

triple secret probation
so, does Dave Ramsey approve a $20 donation to building a new one?

Form a committee to come up with recommendations, then another to fund raise, another for final approval, submit it to Nick for approval, then solicit bids to build it within the budget, fire the builder for not meeting deadlines, hire another but not have the money to pay due to the first money being tied up with the fired builder while you sue to recoup those funds, etc etc.
you still didn't answer the question. :bump:

not being done by multiple committees. Mick will weld it. I already know I'll be recruited as a helper - so that's it. I imagine we'll get SquareJoel, Moondance and possibly NelsonLt1 to show up as beer holders/fetchers and moral support for construction day. :lmao:

One of the guys I went with in 2006 totally shredded his foot on it and had to go to the ER.

It's a beach, not everyone wears shoes there and it could be made better/safer.

We can rebuild it ,we have the technology, better ,stronger ,faster(insert la da da da,la la da da da da da da music here) The Six Million Dollar ski ramp! :Eyecrazy:
Or you could just put in a bid for that bridge Palin built.

LOL..........exactly.

...and, in 2031, my grandkids will come back from the 28th Annual YamaXscream Daytona Freeride telling me the story of this "cool new beach ramp" they finally put up at where the Makai used to be before we burned it down in 2011 with the annual Freeride fireworks display...

how about we get 3ea. 2 x 12 boards 10ft long and reinforce the backs of the boards w/ a 2 x 6 turned at 108 degrees then chamfer the ends to the proper angle and roll w/ it. it's simple to add some grip tape and so on. two of them can be for the tires and one to walk on.

What type of wood will be used?
What is the linear foot psi rating for each 2x12 when suspended at each end?
What is the proper angle to be cut on each end?
Will this be held with nails or screws?

See its not that easy, but I like the idea.

What about using laminated veneer lumber instead of regular (milled) lumber?

I like the wood idea, though some of the carts are wider than others but they're moved easily enough. Toss some grip tape on the middle one for shoe traction and you're good.

What about a whole bunch of 3" PVC about 16" apart, just put your ski on them at the seawall and let go---it'll slide all the way down to the water, no cart needed. J/K!!!!!!!

Good idea!!!

We'll start making a sport outta who's ski gets to the water fastest. :lmao:

The $10 solution is to buy two ratcheting tie straps and two pieces of rebar (and two safety caps for rebar). Drive the rebar deep into the sand underneath the ramp so that it's not a trip or puncture hazard. Use the ratchet straps between the bottom of the ramp on each side and the rebar. Tighten so that the bottom of the ramp can't slide to the point where the top falls off the seawall. I'd love to see a better ramp, but if we could just get the current ramp to stay where it's supposed to, then it would be 10x better.

If the hotel would allow it, using a hammer drill to physically attach the top of the ramp to the top of the seawall would be great. Home Depot sells the concrete anchors and drill bits. That's another $10 solution.

Just some half-azz thoughts

I'm gonna bet they won't let us drill into the seawall.
Those older seawalls, albeit they LOOK good painted, tend to crumble after they are several years old.
I had to have my top cap fixed after trying to remove and replace a broken cleat. The salt water / salty air eat the concrete alive from under that lip.

But then again, maybe theirs not-so-much as mine, since mine is in the salt water all the time, and theirs isn't.
I'd still bet they'd say no dice.
