Beach cart ramp project

how about we get 3ea. 2 x 12 boards 10ft long and reinforce the backs of the boards w/ a 2 x 6 turned at 108 degrees then chamfer the ends to the proper angle and roll w/ it. it's simple to add some grip tape and so on. two of them can be for the tires and one to walk on.

If you use 2x12 by 12' lumber and some 2x bridging to box the three 12's together you could easily drill and lagbolt the current expanded steel to the top of the 2x12's then add a piece of plywood where the current short expanded steel falls short , screw some furring strips to the plywood for gripping ....longer lumber would be better due to the fact that the sand slopes away from the seawall the farther out ya get , but I think 12 'ft is not overkill on length ... then disassemble and take the wood back home / build+cut at home- assemble on site ... any frameing carpenters on board ?? ....... just an Idea

I like where you are going...

really thin furring strips would be perfect... like 3/4" just enough to get a good grip w/o being too bumpy.

figure 3 4x8 sheets of plywood = 8 foot wide 12 ft long ramp..... i have the nailgun and circular saw...... i can come down a few days early (say the weekend before and build the ramp)

Nick, when not parts slinging I am a contractor...I have all the framing tools to bang it out quick

I'd like to make a motion that we scrap both wood and metal ramps and install an electric davit with a short ladder for easy beach side access.

Ok, we're at just about 100 posts on this topic.
Let's make a SOLID decision, figure out a rough close cost, and then figure out who's gonna collect the money and let's start paying for this thing.

Let's get it done and paid for and out of the way.

i am 1200 miles away you are going to tell me theres no one close to daytona that can make a ramp? for me to make a ramp and bring it 1200 miles with the 4 superjet we are bringing allready is just dumb. not trying to sound like an ass. if the freeride were in my back yard i would have this done a long time ago. i will bring my atv ramp best i can due with the room i have on the trailer.
we are working on trying to do a freeride here in new york next year. trying to get the city of long beach on board. (long islands lbc) it we need somthing like a ramp it will be taken care of.

calm down dude. The ramp that has been there for the past several years works fine. It just has a good bit of room for improvement. If no one does anything between now and the freeride, then no big deal. A new ramp is a "nice to have", not a "must have"
