Dump what you will... Nothing will be done to my ski until I can buy some more cloth.

Saying that my 38s are running 65 low jet and still dirt rich and my carbon boysens have been bent back from to high velocity, I may trade out for dual 44s soon... but thats about it.

I heard it from up on the seawall at Daytona, it was the loudest thing there. What? I SAID IT WAS THE LOUDEST THING THERE!

Sounded like it started running only on 1 cyl while you were out riding. I did not realize it was you or I would have come over to tell you it's too loud.

LoL, Yea you should have been a bit suspiscious when you see a somewhat ordinary 550 sounding that loud.

Something happened out there while I was riding... I think the rear cylinder got water in it, and the front for some reason went EXTREMELY rich. I was somewhat ticked that I didnt get more ride time in... but thats what you get for a last minute boat.

you put a (then) future motor into an older ski?

pumps were first along with big bore 650's, then 750's. the 700+ bore's were the first engines we used.the only difference between a 650 pump and a 750 pump is the setback and the pump shoe. basically the same pump.

Yea Ive seen that boat many times before, just never lots of pictures of the actual bottom. That man does some great glass work.... and uses a LOT of body filler. I cant wait to get some new tubbies on my hull...

what do you think about how they lowered the handlepole bracket? I know it's a little extrav, but definitely effective. I like how they hinged the nose piece to allow access to the bracket. I like the hinged hood with the blowsion latch too. notice that they didn't cut the bottom of the hull off and graft another one one to get that pump to fit.
I'm looking at those pictures and it difficult to tell exactly how they went about forming that pump section...

I like the nose, but after riding a squarenose I refuse to ever have a nose cover again.

Yea that pump section was made the same way FlashFX did his pump redo..

Although, he took it a step further and used that hull as a plug, instead of leaving it as is.

The jap guy.

So which should I do. TBM superpump cone or R&D afterburner cone?

Same price.

R&D looks cooler but I have a feeling the TBM is a slicker setup

TBM is more easily adjustable.. but i dont notice a difference between the middle and long cones

i only notice a difference when i switch from the smallest cone to the biggest.
it adds about 1 mph up top

So long time no update. Last time around I cracked the nose nearly off, repaired that, then melted a piston on the next ride. Pretty sure I had a bad reed, or bad crank seal problem, not really sure? Eitherway, Its been a on going problem that I hope I fixed this time.... Figured I'd build a motor from scratch (or at least, as scratch as I can afford) and try to do it right. The slogan "A Good motor, is a Clean motor" stood in mind.

Started out by pulling my motor apart and sandblasting all the pieces. Concentrated on Getting all the gunk out of the cases first. Even after degreaser and nearly 30 minutes sandblasting, they were still a bit dirty. Tough gunk, you can see comparison top to bottom. Then a bit of powdercoating.

After the powdercoating, on to some epoxy work. I used some neat medical grade epoxy that is hard as a rock and oven curable. Filled the voids and ported the tunnels in the intake. I tried to make them as even and radiused as possible. And yes I did epoxy behind the stator.

Then after some self-debate, I decided to go with filling in the fingers and making ramps. I hear it takes away from low end, but figured it would promote further flow to the new transfer tunnels. Its not the prettiest job , and the pictures make them seem rough, however they are smooth and even to the touch. I took a screw driver to them to see if they would unlodge... seems they held fast, so it should hold.

Tried my best to clean the crank, new seals, and then reassemble. Used some loctite 518.... Cases back together. A bit of rust on the crank webs... but bearings look clean and it rolls smooth.

My new cylinder arrived tonight.

A Tim Judge ported 61x cylinder. Engraved Riva. Stock 81mm bore, came with OE pistons, Riva non girdled head, and 35cc domes. Its a pretty one. All the ports and runners have been worked on, and from what I understand it seems to be a freestyle port.

Ports are low and square, transfers have a Very flat exit angle, while boost port has an INCREDIBLY steep roof, perhaps steeper than the stock ~60*. The boost port window is also lowered a good 4-5 mm. The exhaust ports do not seem that radical though. Not sure, but I trust it does the job. Most noticably, the sleeves directly in front of the transfer runners, and the septum itself have been recessed into the cylinder similar to a kawi cylinder. Its no longer flush with the cylinder as stock is.

Unfortunately one of the pistons has been mashed on the outside, slightly crushing the ring land. I dunno... for some reason the option of grinding true enters my head.... The piston is still round and true, just dented downward.

dont waste alll your hard work making that motor nice and grind on an old piston... wait the extra week for the money for new pistons and do it right...

youll thank yourself later when you dont have to deal with any more headaches... it will be done right.

aside from that its looking good.

Got some crusty old carbs from a 760. Eventually they will be sent off to become blackjacks, but until then I made them work.

Pulled them apart, and they were just as nasty on the inside as the outside. After 2 days of acid dip, they went into the sandblaster... then back into the acid dip.... then back into the sandblaster, etc. 3 or 4 cycles. These things were mean dirty.

Removed the studs from the 760 manifold, and replaced with allen head bolts so I can now Easily remove the carbs on the plate. Filled the manifold crossover.

I also machined down all the wierd casting miscelaneous things that were not needed. Made a much cleaner look I believe. Also drilled large vents in the diaphragm covers... this should allow for a faster action.

Naturally as with everything else they got the powdercoat treatment. Clear on the bodies and Ruby red metallic flake on everything else. Almost look like Novis now. LoL.

A full rebuild later and they are ready for jetting.
