Make sure he uses epoxy resin. Polyester doesn't work real well with the SMC bottom deck.

The bond will fail, you would be better off doing it yourself. Sand, get some marine tex, fill over the damaged area and let dry, sand to match the contour of the hull. Or order a West Systems repair kit. It will come with everything you need. Cost about $30-40.00 I believe.

damn. I think he is using polyester. 3" long repair, not all that deep whats the worst that can happen with that
If that part of the hull comes in contact with something again there's a good chance it'll peel right off. I would highly recommend calling your guy and tell him to hold off and use epoxy. For 200$ it's not worth it coming off.

I had a superjet that a guy repaired with Polyester resin. It was Sanded down and prepped nice, but a chisel and barely any pressure popped it all up in one shot.

Give it a small splash of fuel down the carb throat and it should fire up.

The bottom of my SJ has a LOT of scratches (largely from previous owner) but none of them look as deep as yours in the sense that yours looks like it took a good impact and is flaking up a bit. Probably a good idea to get that one repaired.

I'll try and get a photo later of my hull, it will probably make you feel better...

Picked one up for my wife yesterday. Taking it out tomorrow. Anything I should know besides running it rich and feathering the throttle?

Wow, nice looking new ski!

I run mine at 40:1 instead of 50:1 as specified (I am not here to start an oil debate). Otherwise, just ride it and have a blast! Check over hoses, fuel lines, etc and make sure the battery straps are on securely.

I recommend wearing shoes of some type (wrestling or scuba booties are good) to avoid busting your shin on the rear of the deck if your foot slips.

I got insurance today too. $346 a year. I'm covered if it gets stolen or sunk…

I broke my ski in using 25:1 for the first 2 tanks. I read that in a Superjet manual. I have Progressive insurance and it was $174 a year for full coverage.
