C.A.T.S. - Cheap Arse Trim System - post yours!

SXR-FOREVER

Finally Flippin
What skat trak cable did you use? Also, did you use the x2 nozzle or modify your sxr one? If you used the x2 one, did you bore it or just bolt it on? Thanks

Used the SkatTrak that Blowsion sells and used a full X2 reduction/trim/steering set up. Only problem was that I kept breaking trim cables (3) so I'll have to try a different wayof going about it.

Here are some pictures of my C.A.T.S setup.

I used the Pro-Tec Trim cable with the ball/barrel fitting inside of a 1/2" aluminum bar welded to the trim ring.

This allows the cable end to pivot inside the bar so the cable doesn't bend or break during full tilt.

The cable holder is made out of 1/2" x 1-1/4" aluminum bar stock and bolted to the reduction nozzle bracket with stainless screws.

I also used the aluminum bar welded on the bottom of the reduction nozzle for a height control adjustment when the steering nozzle is in the stationary position.

The Avid speed dial levers with and adjustable cantilever gave me about 32mm of cable pull for more tilt.

It gives me about 28 degrees of throw just using OEM parts with offset bushings and some grinding of the trim ring.

Why the spring?

Mark44
It keeps the cable from bunching up and the barrel fitting from the possibility of falling out when there no water pressure on the steering nozzle.

It's a low tension stainless spring from Watcon and works great.

because it's a trailer queen. :poke:
Tim, you're just jealous because there's no turf hanging off the sides. :hitwithrock:

ouch

O ok I see my barrel is on my lever and nothing to fall out by the pump so I don’t have a spring.

100 ways to do this yours looks nice!

I was going to do a similar setup with the cable on top but it only gave me about 20 degrees of throw. So I moved the pivot point down lower and routed the cable under the support bracket. Also the Pro-Tec cable has a ball fitting on the pump end with a removable barrel fitting, so it pivots freely within their trim ring.

Mounting the pivot points further out on the reduction nozzle didn't seem to give me much more tilt. So I think eventually I'll have to fabricate an offset trim ring similar the BUN or Thrust innovations for even more throw.

Moving the pivot points out just works if the trim ring hits the reduction nozzle. I moved mine and got a ton more throw more than double what I had. I use a protec lever and that seems to have enough throw I just needed clearance.

Those are simply the best because they have an adjustable cantilever, height adjustable lever and are made out of titanium, so they won't rust. :fing02:

trim system cables fit in those ti levers?
i ask because the cable, housing and ferrule are usually much larger than bicycle hardware.

The fulcrum fitting is made out of stainless steel and it has inner tabs that will crimp down around any size cable barrel end, with a pair of needle nose pliers.

ASV levers for MX applications work great too. They can get more adjustability and pull length than anything, but are a little larger than mtn. bike levers

I was checking the reduction nozzle on my raider to one of my blasters it is way bigger. I believe the raider is 155mm and the blaster is a 144mm. So how would you replace the reduction nozzle with a raider one. This is off of a 1100did the 700 raiders have a 144mm pump. Or can I just weld the bosses on my stock blaster nozzle to accomodate the larger raider trim wring?

Yes the 760/701 Raider have the 144mm pumps. WBII have 155mm pumps too. There are good charts at skat-tak.com or impros.com.

Thats what I did is weld bosses on my Superjet pump nozzle, ground them down to fit right, drilled and tapped them to accept the 144mm raider trim ring and steering nozzle. Or you can get one of the 144mmRaider/GP760 pump nozzles. I have a like new one for sale:
