All of this is great,
I also would like to say, there will most likely be 2 classes
in each event to be announced later.

There will be a freestyle, and surf, it will be seperate !

also, No charging riders to ride.
you show up and enter... and sponsors are picking up the prize money
and insurance. Now I have some ins with local ath. that will make it
easier for us to put more money into the winnings !
like 1st threw 10th all get $$$$.......
alot more to figure, nothing in this thread is stone all ideas ! :Banane01:

you might not want to use the terms amature and pro. it may infer something you don't want. you might want to call the classes limited and unlimited or something like that.

hey Nick, we do a qualifier in the AM for Position for the final........ Yeah, the first guy usually gets screwed unless he is really good. You could do like mentioned, say there are 8 guys........ after the 8th guy goes, you can randomly pick the first 2 guys, 1st guy, or first 3 guys and have them run again and throw their first scores out the window or give them the option of keeping the score and throwing their 2nd run out. Kinda like a bonus for going first.

Surf class - seperate !

freestyle/freeride
novice - beginer (some surf exposure)
expert - (need to figure still)

I am not worried about how to work it,
I am going to print this entire thread,
and start rules and figures, then Slutty
and I and others that want to be involved
will start planning.

as Far as skis, dont sing it, bring it !

Pete,I know you were thinking on doing this in Jersey,I dont know how set in stone that is for you right now,but we have been doing alot of research here about putting on a competition in VA beach.Depending on what time of year you are thinking,we could support a big event with good surf here.

More importantly we are right in the middle,so it would be easy to get more riders from the southern and northern states without anyone having to trek 15 hrs or better. We also have decent hotels right on the beach overlooking the competition for cheap in the off season. We also have alot of guys in the wavejunkies that live close enough to the beach to put up a good many of the planners for this event. Im sure many of them would volunteer

ok.... how about two different competitions w/ completely different requirements... One will be named "Surf Style" and the other "Freestyle"
You can compete in one or both comps for the overall win. So there will be two winners then an Overall winner of both.

Surf Style
surf style part of the comp will consist of all surfing tricks only. No air tricks will even count in this heat. That way you can concentrate on that particular style and it will open up the doors for guys who F'in grip as surfriders, but don't like to do the airs. Re-entry's, BR reenty, lip slashing, barrels, all the stylee moves will be judged..

Freestyle
freestyle will be all of the big air tricks and motox inspired tricks.

the idea behind this is to give (like I said above) surfriders the ability to compete and big air guys who don't care about surfing too... Also if a person wants to compete in both to show there skillz... go ahead and go for the Overall win. I personally think the two being judged together is too difficult for the judges and makes the surfing too choppy and not fluid. This way you got 5 min (or whatever we decide) to just concentrate on that discipline.

Yup ! Thats what I said last night ! Thanks for putting it into better words slutty ! Also its one at a time, no wave fighting, or judges missing tricks ! NO head to head !

I also want fresh blood out there.... if you only surf ride, come out, does not cost you, and you can win $$$ for what you love to do !

If your new at arials, come out, throw down, you might win.

I want a Huge event, tons of people, and show the love for our
sport...

From tv coverage to big sponsors, We are going to do our best for you.
I want the Freeride Atmosphere feeling into a comp....
a little competitive, and $$, but still fun !

sounds cool. i think this is the feel the hotwater guys are going after in region 7 this year. i will link this thread for them.

do it...

It would be so cool to have a tour that consisted of these spots. A little East Coast Freeride Tour:

  1. Daytona
  2. Virginia
  3. New Jersey

Just a few thoughts.

I'd be interested in attending a competition on the east coast, but couldn't afford to drive with a ski. So long as I could find ski to ride, I'd be in.

I'm not exactly sure how I feel about the compulsery list.....not saying it's good or bad yet...just kind of reserving judgement on that one.

I do think one rider at a time is a very bad idea. I'm not saying that the competition needs to be head to head....but two riders on the water lends to more energy on the water which lends to bigger and better performances from the both riders. I'm 10 times more stoked to ride when I've got someone to push me.

We looked into insurance briefly, I will talk to some of the guys and see what we can get worked out with pricing?

Pete, who did you talk to about insurance there, what was making it a deal?

nick, yea man a mini east coast freeride tour would be the deal, good idea.We have guys in all three spots to support it.

Jerry,ya know if you come the wavejunkies got ya covered for a sj and b1
