well, I have one and I'd expect it to be in the class of all the rest of the standups. same hull size and no seat.
i think the only way to draw a real "crowd" would be to icorporate another sport or two like they do at the comps in europe.i think thats the best way to increase awareness by bringing together the crowds from from other "x"sports

OK I wasn't going to take on the responsibility but if I HAVE to I will take charge of the wet T-shirt contest.

I think for now the focus should be on putting together a smooth and fair freeride competition. Unless you guy intend on bringing in some other experienced event coordinator/promotors, I think you'll find that over extending yourselves will be the fastest way to put together a sh*tty event.
I'm not saying that I doubt your abilities.....but ask JK how simple putting together his event was and you might have a new appreciation for these kinds of things.
Freestyle MX, pit-bike race maybe?
that's why you have good people helping you and you don't do everything at the last minute... Look at the daytona event... I have been working on that for 2 months... an it's still 2 months away... Planning and prep my brotha
This would be great…
A three part tour or venture should definitely include Virginia Beach. We are the most centrally located for both the north and south riders and have the tourist area to support all riders. There are campsites and hotels within minutes/ seconds of the ocean front.
For an unofficial event, our only problem is beach access. We have laws on top of laws. The beach is off limits from weekend prior Memorial Day to weekend after Labor Day (Resort Season). You could possibly organize an unofficial event around those dates.
The law books do allow for regattas, races and exhibitions…
Sec. 6-107. Article does not prohibit regattas, races and exhibitions.
The provisions of this article shall not be construed to prohibit regattas, the running of races or exhibitions during an approved, publicly announced, properly supervised and adequately patrolled regatta, race, speed trial or exhibition. Written approval for such events from the city manager, pursuant to the rules and regulations of the United States Coast Guard, or from the commission of game and inland fisheries of the commonwealth, shall be deemed sufficient evidence of approval.
(Code 1965, § 6-21)
This would be your best bet for a official kick arse event. You would need to get the AWA in on it for insurance purposes.
I think people here would be more then willing to assist with an official or unofficial event.
I know the laws, I know where to find the laws, I’m just not a VB resident nor have the free time to run an official event. If you want the help of some people from the wavejunkies, I know CaptianBS, CapeHenry and fathom are very active in trying to organize an event.
The Florida Sluts and Jersey Girls would lose outside there own territory, cause the Junkies are the only ones that have truly represented in all locations.

Hey there gramps ! lol
I go to as many rides as I can !
As far as an unofficial event that would be great to come to VA
for a freeride !
As far as a comp... we are talking full bore, permits, insurance, news, etc.
That would be a great spot, it is half way...
I think I am going to try and push it to be here ! We will see !
yeah... Jersey is the spot to do it bro...
When you say here.....do you mean Jersey or VB?
A true blown out event would work out best in VB for the center aspect. Biggest turn out. North and South...
Our laws will allow it, insurance and others items are the same at any location. it's just a matter of the leg work.
At least consider it.
