my 2 pennies...
1. the head to head format will save time and push riders to ride harder...as far as judging two riders at once...have 6 total judges, 3 for each rider, that way no one can claim "well, they must have missed my double backy no hander lander"... the judges know who they are supposed to be watching before the riders go out so there is no confusion on their end...
2. as far as biased or fair judging...unfortunatly, when judging a sport such as this there is always room for interpretation in regards to style, difficulty, etc...make sure whoever you pick for judges are the most stand up people you can find...maybe not people you like but you know they will be fair and are knowledgeable about the sport, the riding, and so on...
3. i think its a bad idea to seperate the surf riding and the freestyle aspect of, well, surf riding...see my point? its kinda like takin the egg out of the omlette...
4. don't be so quick to shrug off any entry fee's for riders. it was mentioned somewhere that sponsors will pick up entry fees...well, isn't it the responsibility of each rider to hit up their sponsors for this? plus, it does kinda narrow the field to semi-serious contenders if people have to "put up or shut up"...i mean, with no entry fees, what you are really talking about is judging a freeride...if thats the case throw six people out there in lawn chairs with a few 12 packs and save yourselves the hassles...
5. this looks to be pete's brain child, does anyone seriously think that it will be held anywhere but jersey?
im not trying to be negative, i think this is an awesome idea, im just trying to play devils advocate and give you guys some points to ponder...
