riding with fellow riders= no problems
riding with newb fellow riders= be cautious til you know they ride right
riding with anyone else be it boat or couch= be very cautious
riding with newb couchrider= leave the area

there are multiple threads here about dumbasses riding all over the place. If you were riding and recognized this guy as a moron why stick around to make sure? You are way smarter than that. what we do is illegal on almost every body of water we ride, we are the skateboarders of the community. not that I agree because in the eyes of the law we are not in control when in reality we are more experience and in more control of our skis than nearly anyone else on the water. and again with that experience comes the knowledge to know better than to assume others know what they are doing.

dont feel bashed. I think what we all want to make sure of is that this doesnt happen again. to anyone.

Show that video to 10 strangers that know nothing about your situation and log their reactions. Like I said earlier, if there is more going on that the camera doesn't show then that is unfortunate for you and the video only hurts you.

My buddy used to say " one person calling you an a$$hole doesn't make it true...but if 10 people call you one, you may wanna ask yourself some questions."

1000% your fault. No question. And it hurts my soul to take the coucher's side, but in this instance they were not wreckless nor to blame, you were.

If he had any experience or was paying attention to what anybody is doing out there no accident would have happened.

Turn this around. If you had any experience or were paying attention (to the ski that was going in a straight line the same path as the boat), you wouldn't have jumped into his path and gotten hit.

In a situation where vessels are going to meet at the same point, the vessel on the right has right of way meaning they maintain their course/speed and the give-way vessels slows or goes behind (you). You failed to give-way.

Do some reading on the subject. http://www.helium.com/items/842762-boat-navigation-understanding-right-of-way-on-the-water?page=2

This doesn't even factor in that what you were doing is illegal pretty much everywhere.

he had at least 40-50 yards to make a better decision.

40-50 yards is 120-150 feet, and I believe you said he was going 30mph, so that's 44 ft/second, so he had between 2.7 and 3.4 seconds?

On your video, 3 seconds before impact you had not even left the water yet so you obviously had plenty of time to decide to not hit that wake.

Watching the video a few more times shows the other ski landing on a slight angle from a jump not a straight line as mentioned earlier.

This is actually a great add for the helmet mount versus the chest mount. Then the vid could have shown exactly where you were looking and possible picked up more of the other skis behaviour.

I'm still standing firm on 50:50 fault. Neither party is 100% to blame but both could have done more to avoid it. Chalk it up as a bad experience and move on.

Jett you dont really like me and you have made that clear, and I hope that i have made clear that I dont care. Take a look at this. I have done more research than you think.
Pwc.com says

When approaching another craft from behind, should you…
a. Allow the craft in front to maintain its course and speed, staying out of that craft’s way until you are safely past.
b. Pick whichever side looks safer and quickly move past.
c. Wait until open water and head another direction.
d. Make like a car, and always pass on the boat’s left (port) side.
The answer here is A, to allow the craft in front to maintain its course and speed, moving carefully past on whichever side is safest. If it’s a narrow channel, passing on the right is considered proper.

triple secret probation
1. you were not approaching a craft from behind.
2. read the rules for approaching a craft broadside.
3. the rules don't apply when you operate in a reckless manner.

Atomic punk Thanks the xh20 jury found me very guilty. Believe me when i say i want to party with you guys.

I'll party with you... just don't ride near me  (just bustin balls)

Seriously, in regards to riders on here, don't you think we would have your back if we thought you were in the right? Posting on this forum you would think that we would be biased in your favor. So far, I see one member saying it was 50:50 and everyone else thinks you bear most of the responsibility.

Jett clearly you are a TOOL and want to attack me. I am vey good at Riding jet skis, surfboards, snowboards, wakeboards, skateboards, mountain bikes, dirt bikes, and anything else with wheels or rails. Right now I have been training in a wind tunnel and will do my first tandem drop from 13,000 feet in about a week, then i will be getting certified to skydive single, next to base jumping. I will go head to head, toe to toe with you in ANY arena anytime. I have tried to be nice to you in pm's, but you still feel inclined to attack ME anytime you get the chance. As I have told you before, GET OVER YOURSELF YOU ARE NOT THAT IMPORTANT.

Wow, I stand corrected. You clearly exhibit perfect sense of a situation and always react appropriately. I now have no doubts what so ever that you were completely in the right the whole time. Clearly you have excellent judgement.

why bother with the tandem jump? you don't need it if you are going to pursue a skydiving license.

go through an AFF class. My first civilian skydive was basically solo - two instructors holding on to me...once I demonstrated some basic maneuvers, and pull the chute - they let me go and I flew in by myself.

Since you brought this up...

We had a disagreement on the posting of nudity here. You were stating facts about how kids are today, when you have no kids of your own and were called out on that.

Then you accused me of being an authority on millionaires in that thread, when all I did was post an article.

Then about a week later I get a pm from you out of the blue telling me to get over myself, that I'm not that important (no idea who said I was, not I), etc etc.

I've been an admin on a forum for about 7 years now and there are always people that want to discredit whoever the admins are. You seem to be one of those people. We also have people like that here at work, typically union workers, that want to discredit the management, however they can.

I'm 40 years old, have a great family/job/life, and your lack of maturity is really showing in this thread. Everyone gets the benefit of the doubt at first but you have removed any doubt as to your lack of maturity.

Actually, there was no attack by anyone here. People are just pointing out the facts based on the video you posted. Boyer was the only one to say it was 50/50. Personally, the only time someone would be at fault in my eyes is if they ran over a swimmer. Other than that, 2 PWC's in the same area, You never, never assume the other person see's you or that you think you have the right (Bamn, Crash) of way. It does not matter with PWC who has the right of way. It is the person who is paying more attention that will most likely never have a collision.

Might want to check your attitutude and instults at the mouse when you enter the house.
