DISCONTINUING THE SUPERJET????

So what would stop Yamaha from making a new SJ competition only? That way no EPA. I mean, look how many GP1’s are out there. Almost every top racer has one so the demand however small is there.

Not profitable enough for them to come out with a brand new ski to sell to closed course racers only, the demand just isn't there to make it worth while. It also couldn't be sold in California or New York per state laws.

Anything new for Seadoo or Kawasaki?
Nothing major, a few sub model changes. Such as a GTI Pro.

Can someone post the 2015 or 2016 or (whatever year the new sxr came out) EPA test results for Kawasaki, and the date that was published? I would do the research myself but I’m not a EPA test expert like some others around here and don’t have time.

SXR 1500 came out in 2017. It was first emission tested June 2nd 2016 then retested Nov 16th 2016, they must have changed the mapping or something to need a retest.

You could buy them in the spring of 2017, couldn't tell you the exact release date. Emissions testing is done several months before they are released.

Oct 6th was the media release date, our dealers in the Midwest didn't have any till spring.

So emissions testing was done 4-5 months prior to media release. Pretty standard time frame for all vehicles/powersports from what iv seen.

Show me something that actually says SXR on it released before OEM announcement. Otherwise none of this is convincing to me. The 1500 was already in use by other skis, its not a surprise that they were testing emissions on it, and thats all that youve shown us.

People should absolutely be skeptical. Claims of certainty before the card holder shows their hand is still speculation. Evidence may support a claim but an assertion should be followed with " to the best of my knowledge" or " history has shown". Its' probable rmk king has the best argument and solid evidence but the fat lady hasn't sung yet.

If Yamaha doesn't release a new 4T standup in 2020, doubt it will ever happen. Yamaha doesn't typically release new models on odd years so 2022 would seem implausible as reports say they've been testing hulls for a few years. Project may go in the round file like the Seadoo standup did. What a waste.

That's basically the rumor that I had heard from a dealer. They were basically told that if the new SJ is released it would be for 2020 which will be the 30th anniversary of the Superjet and Yamaha likes to do all the anniversary stuff. And the new SJ was already done last year and ready for production when the top brass stopped it again. I am assuming this rumor is speculation from some of the dealer reps. So yes, nothing really confirmed.

Let's get real here folks, let's talk about what the "bold new graphics" for 2020 will be. My money is on a red scheme, maybe red/black/white. They will definitely change the colors since 18' and 19' were the same. Why make a 4 stroke and keep it top secret to try and regain sales in Australia when all you have to do is change the vinyl sticker colors for the rest of the world and increase MSRP?

I just got off the phone with Yamaha's CEO, Yoshihiro Hidaka. I don't speak any Japanese and he doesn't speak English but the conversation went something like this.

Me: Hi, are you guys making a 4 stroke Superjet?
Him: いいえ
Me: What?
Him: わかりますか?
Me: Huh?
Him: 私たちは新しいスーパージェットを作っていません
Him: 噂の作成をやめる
Me: OK, bye

Earlier in this same thread 3 months ago your rep pretty much told you the exact opposite of what he told you today.

The thing is, and no offense to anyone who works at dealerships or works in sales but I just don't believe anything unless it's in a press release from upper management. I doubt any motosports reps are getting any legitimate info 1-2 years ahead of time. Plus, releasing that kind of information would hurt sales for next year because everyone is just going to wait until 2021 for the shiny new model.

That is exactly what the local rep said in 2018 and was going to be released in 2019 then just before the Watercraft Dealer's show where it was going to be announced he said they killed the project again. So until someone has an actual official release I don't believe even the reps.
