I'd love a modern 4 stroke SJ if it stays close to the current hull. Lots of good points in this thread. The Superjet is grandfathered in-pollution rules for boats are different than cars...fleet averages are allowed and the reason the pre emissions 701 can be sold (or was sold for so long) are the many Couches with four strokes...the tiny sales of the standup didn't contribute much to the total even if two strokes are messy.
Bonus is that a 701 two stroke is like a Harley or a SBC Chevy. A basic machine shop can keep most things going, and you can build a Harley or SBC out of parts made by a hundred companies, none of which are the designers.
Someone said you aren't riding a 1996 dirt bike...true. I'd buy a 4s SJ if it doesn't go all "stand about". The 440/550 was amazing because it was light, not because of the ability to sink or the bilge pump engine.
