I re did the old girl with some blue tray/hold turf and some white rails. 3m foam fast 74 commercial rattle can. Works well and has not come off yet.

when you use padding, do you taper the edges down to the fiberglass so that when you lay turf over the top you end up gluing the edges of the turf to glass or is all of the turf only glued to the under pad? does my question make sense?

lol - yeah, I realized that after I was done. I followed the tray contours of the footrocket... last time I did 25mm in the deep part of the tray, and 10mm everywhere else, so it was flat. This time I used 25mm throughout. super cushy this time.

One thing I was wondering about is what brands of footholds are considered the more preferable ones. I hope I am not shifting the thread too much by asking that, but I have a set of EME holds, and a set of 24-7's. I bought the 24-7's about 6 months after the EME's were installed and I had plans of putting them into my old 650sx. Now that my hull is torn down for foam removal, I compared the two holds and the EME's have a much deeper pocket, with a more aggressive wrap over wing than the 24-7's. But the 24-7's after doing a floor test feel quite a lot more ergonomically correct. I know they are no longer in business, but are they much like everything else I have seen from them and well sought after? They certainly seem to have a comfy fit without any turf at all...on the floor that is...when compared to the EME's. I used my Malonies for 2 seasons and didn't mind them until last year on my last run of the season. We had hurricane winds come through making the water a chopped up mess. It was just dirty and not fun riding conditions. I am talking a nasty range of mixed white caps from all angles. As I was just leaving the top of one wave, a larger one popped up and caught my ride plate kicking the nose down into a dive, another wave hit me straight on plowing the nose under and I hyper extended the tendons on the top of feet forcing my toes down really hard. I just finally started getting relief from the injury over the last month or two and this occurred back in mid September. What I noticed was my feet were so far into my EME holds, that they couldn't pop out when snapped forward like that. I have had something similar happen a few times before but never that serious. The 24-7 holds have a smaller wrap over wing and half the pocket, plus they just seem so properly fitted, and the wing doesn't consume as much of the space between the holds in the tray. The EME's left a rather narrow channel in the middle of the tray. I think I am going to run the 24-7's this year and see how I like them in action. Anyone have any issues with the holds they have, or experienced a particular brand they would recommend using or not using?

I wanted a wide tray and big footholds like an AM hull on my superjet so I widened the tray and made my own holds. I mounted them high also to allow plenty of padding top and bottom to be real cushy. Also the downward sloping angle of the foothold allows me to adjust with padding for how far forward I want my foot to be and also allow me to kick my toes in sideways for surf stance. I'll post more pics when it's padded and turfed

I know this thread is about tray turf but I was curious how you guys are wrapping that turf around the nose? are you just using heat or is it necessary to cut small slits in the top side of that piece so that it contours more easily?

Heat gun and a sand hammer. The turf will form to the nose. Lol at least on my blaster it did.
