I guess the 25mm pad gets a bit squished down over time. Gotta tighten the footholds a bit. Gonna glue in some turf scraps over the instep areas. The pieces are cut and ready to glue, but it's gotta dry out a bit.

I got one of the new encased OCD Solutions switch & it looks great! Super idea to solder the wires on and encase the whole back of it in rubber or whatever it is.
I think this one will hold up for years and years and years in saltwater.

Thanx guys,
Because it's so flat today I installed Boyers switch. Looks like it will work great.

Also, some guys were talking about having issues when removing the acorn nuts on the girdle studs of the head. I knew that I had never-siezed the lower threads but couldn't remember if I had done the tops. Sure enough, I did not. Took care of that and re-torqued to Matt E specs. (22/35)

Nothing else planned until after Daytona except a minor carb tweek.

Well, Daytona has come and gone. I had the ski's down there but didn't ride. I was getting the "e-box click" ..... it would fire every 10 to 15 pushes of the start button, but the water was cold, and I didn't want the embarrassment of a tow-in.
Blue gave me some good advise on determining whether it was the starter or the solenoid.
I usually fire it up at least every other day. It got to the point where it wouldn't turn at all....50 pushes plus... (yes, I was counting..lol)
Finally dug into it today. It's the solenoid. (a good thing). Not in the mood to replace a starter.
Ordered a new solenoid from Greater Yamaha. (24 bux cheaper than riva).

It was the original solenoid. (8 years old) Guess I can't bitch. Looking to replace the e-box gasket in the process, but they are getting hard to come by. (on backorder everywhere)

Things are kind of dead right now. The surf is bad. It's cold. I'm in no rush. But at least it will be an easy job when the part arrives.

Read it again James! I wish it was 24 bux! Greater Yamaha=55 & change....Riva 79 & change. (24 bux cheaper)

Yep, I checked with Jetmaniac. He too is empty when it comes to e-box gaskets. (for the moment)

He also has solenoids in stock for a really good price, but they are used. I just feel that with small, relatively inexpensive electrical parts, that it's worth a few extra bux for new.
I rarely buy anything without checking with Jetmaniac first. He's always done me right.

"Samsonite I was way off " Yeah I am done with Riva's prices forever ! I once had water get into the box and cause the solenoid to stick, I rode up to shore and my starter motor had been running for who knows how long; had to disconnect the battery quick !

I called JSS for an ebox gasket and new grommets and new screws for the whole external box. JSS had everthing but not extra screws. Mine had become mildly stripped. JSS said those Phillips heads are essentially a "one off" screw that only Yamaha has or has made. I found a close match at ACE and Tractor Supply Co. I forget what the cost for a new gasket was but it wasn't crazy high.

As a side note...JSS said he may be unavailable to is in the near future due to new tax legislation making expensive for him to do business for residents in the state of Georgia!

Geez, that sucks! JSS is such a vital business.IDK any other business that do what they do and so close.

OEM e-box gaskets are approx 12 bucks. Good to know JSS has 'em. (shipping will cost as much as the gasket!)

Does the "Georgia" law affect internet sales? Don't quote me, but, I think, so far, only California has managed somehow to tax the internet.
Maybe they are hitting the seller on gross income? But that wouldn't make a difference what state you're from.
I dunno. Nothing can surprize me when it comes to tax codes. (state or federal)

Installed new solenoid today. Sure enough, that was the culprit!

Used my original gasket...again. It's not torn, but it's swelled over time (wd-40) and lining up the screw holes can be a challenge.
For now it's ready to ride.
