Looks great until you look underneath. I agree that the bolt heads will take away from the clean look but when you don't have a cover in the first place, bolt heads are a lot less dirty than an entire mount with bolt heads. I'll look into some structural adhesives but the majority of the mount will have to touch the hull no matter what.

I know Hysol EA934 when properly mixed and cured will create a serious bond but there are two problems I'm seeing. First is, if bonded properly, you may never get that mount off. Second, I can't find where to buy it. Every aviation repair facility uses it but it's all through contracts. I'll try to look some more tomorrow.

Maybe some epoxy resin thickened with milled fibers will work though and be more readily accessible.

Ask Bobby at Trinity. Maybe he could give you idea where to buy it

It may be a good idea to lay some class cloth over an area larger than the footprint and put colloidal silica in the resin under the bracket and bolt it up before letting it cure if you think the bracket does not sit flat anywhere, This way it would spread the load rather that the bracket only contacting the hull in two or three places and causing gel cracks! Or worse !

Built up the underside flat with fiberglass. Install threaded inserts into the built up fiberglass, then bolt the plate in from the bottom. Voila, no thru bolts. Or fiberglass a PLATE to the hull that is drilled, tapped and slotted for the pole bracket ears to slide up thru and then bolt in place.

I think most of the forces on the handle pole are pulling it AWAY from the hull (like when the pole gets over extended) and very few push it into the hull. With that in mind the bottom mount into thick fiberglass is probably plenty strong.

Glasswork of the buildup under the H/P bracket. it will need a bit of sanding , then I ll cover the entire area with carbon kevlar.
I also made the buckets for the handholds for the hood .

Very nice. You have been busy. I want to try the same on my highroller hood. What did you use to make it? Fiberglass with color or carbon? 17oz biax?

On a side note, what fiberglass did you build the bulkhead out of?

I have this real old camping bowl that I use as a mold . I used 5 or 6 layers of " home depot "" type glass , and then a layer of black /green carbon kevlar

the only biax I used is 12 oz

to find the answer to your side note question , refer to the first page . I already answered it .

want me to make you one???

A well prepped bond will be far stronger than any bolts. For piece of mind just pot the bracket in place with your favorite thickened epoxy and install some countersunk screws from the top. The aviation epoxy is good stuff but incredibly expensive, unless your employer donates it.

I see it now...sorry.

Make me one? How could I turn that down? That would be awesome....but you are doing so much for me already that I feel like a leech. PM me with a price because I can't accept it for free.

Your build is looking awesome.
