Lc9 is a carry a lot, shoot a little gun. Not intended to be a pleasant shooter as with any lightweight micro 9mm on the market.

Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using Tapatalk 2

I only wanted the LC9 to stash in my truck or to carry once in awhile. Maybe put 50 rounds a year thru it.

Just got back from the range. I put 50 rounds through an M&P45 in addition to 100 rounds thru my Ruger. That was the first 45 I have had the chance to fire and it didn't kick near as bad as I thought it would. My 9mm felt like a cheap peashooter after that though.

It just goes to show that a cheap gun is cheap and there is no substitute for a well made gun. The balance is better, the kick is less and it's so much easier to be accurate. Looking forward to cycle thru the rental guns and try different ones with each visit.

I may have to change my plans and scrap the LC9 idea entirely, downgrade my SR9 to a CCW and upgrade to a 1911 for home defense and range.

Look into the Para Ordanace LDA for a nice all around 1911,your lawyer might thank you one day. I prefer an AR for defensive situations so my lawyer is not fond of me lol. Glaser or Mag-Safe is a good ammo choice in the house.

I'd stay far away from the LDA. I owned and carried one for a while. The slide cracked in the front third. Now Para was nice enough to replace it and work over the gun while at it for no charge, but I'd say that's the minimum they could do. It was not an isolated issue, either. That trigger is weird as hell.
I sold it as soon as I got it back from them (took three full months, wtf) and bought a plain Jane Colt Combat Commander. Much happier.

I rebuilt a lda 45 para for a guy and its a nightmare inside nowhere near as simple as a std 1911 not a terrible shooting gun but not a customizers dream either.I bought and sold that same gun 3 times and made money everytime though!

I owned and carried a LC9. I really didn't care for that gun. I replaced that gun with a Glock 26 (9mm). I just recently purchased a Glock 22 (.40). I carry both. I personally love Glocks and like having commonality with them. My next gun will be a shotgun. I like the Magpul Edition Rem 870.

Steve, look into the IAC 982,

I also wanted a 870, but I'm having a hardtime convincing myself the IAC is a bad choice. And yes.... Dat Magpul furniture is sick.

If you are used to a 1911 trigger the LDA is going to be different for sure and the mechanism is complicated no doubt. I felt the trigger pull was acceptable for what it was designed for. Matt- slide cracked wow not good, had'nt heard that before. I only suggest the DAO in a CC situation because of the litigation that comes along with defending yourself. Attornies love to use the term (hair trigger). That helps them make you look bad and the guy that was causing you harm look defenseless. I've had few (I always buy in pairs) Para's, Sprinfeilds, Colts,Kimbers etc. I currently own a pair of STI Tactical 5.0 45's that I picked up recently and am probably happiest with them. I do not CC with them and do not train enough with them so they just sit for now.

I was offered a Highpoint JHP45 last night for $200. I was interested until I saw how ugly it was and then saw that was the going price out the door for them.

Probably not a bad gun to have around for that price so I may get it just to keep in the toolbox or something.

They work, but I wouldn't own one. They're horrible.

If you read the reviews on them, they actually pretty sturdy, its just hit and miss. I've had a 9mm and a .45acp. The 45 would go all day, and if you run out of ammo you can beat someone with it. The 9mm didn't cycle for poop.

Its good gun to have stored somewhere as a desert island/ last ditch/ SHTF weapon.

That's what I was thinking. Perfect gun to have in the garage that you hopefully never ever need. Not something I would ever carry, fire or show anyone...ever.

I like the idea of having multiple guns within reach in several different places around the house and let's face it, they don't all have to be name brand daily shooters for that service.

I think the same way, I went with multiple .38's available in multiple locations. They are usually more dependable than a HiPoint. You can find them pretty reasonably priced.

I've never heard of HiPoints being unreliable. It's just that they are simple blow-back operated guns and pretty inaccurate. The blow back design makes them very heavy and clunky and somewhat sensitive to using just the right load in them.

Well I guess reasonably is a relative term. Its relative to how dependable of a firearm you want. I find them for $2-300 at pawn shops and from friends. I just inspect for proper clocking and such and be on my way. I don't mind spending $5-600 on a revolver of quality so $300 is reasonable to me.

Well Matt I have been told the same and I also just like nice firearms so the HiPoint is out right there. That being said if a firearm is finicky about ammo then I (opinion) deem it unreliable.

$225 with 2 mags and a holster. It's a friggin brick but it'll be mounted under a cabinet for emergencies only.
