Random story... It's winter...
My foray into firearms started about 8 years ago. Before that it was little to nothing. Dad didn't hunt... I think my parents have a .38 SW from like... 1950 hidden in the house, but no ammo.
About 8 years ago, one of my customers was getting out of firearms at his store. He had two pistols, a .45acp and a 9mm and they were marked at $200ea and he said he'd sell them both to me for $350. So what did steal for such a low price? Nothing... I bought a pair of Hi-point pistols lmao. I had no idea, but it seemed like a solid deal for a pair of entry level guns.
I ended up giving the 45 to my parents a few years back for home defense. "something is better than nothing"
The 9mm had feeding problems from the get go. I called the mfg, they argued with me for a bit and sent me a magazine. By that time I got into higher quality guns and never shot the 9mm again. Its just been sitting in my safe. Yesterday I threw it in my truck and put two mags through it without any hiccups. I smiled.
Its one of those guns that is only worth about $120 max used/ street value. Maybe i'll keep it in the daily. If I'm ever without my carry weapon at least I have something that goes bang.
It is a ugly hunk of crap tho...
*edit* When I bought it I called a buddy who was into guns and he says "clean it before you shoot it" So I go through the manual like 5 times and can't find any thing about field stripping it. Thats because you can't 'field' strip it. Its held together with rolled pins, and they suggest tearing it down and cleaning every 1000 rounds.
