Hand guns

Do you guys have any tips for pistol shooting? I can shoot a rifle pretty well but I had my first range day with the new glock on Tuesday and it was ugly. At 15 yards my first 3 mags were in a 8 inch group (ya I know it's not that great but I guess pretty good for my second time with a pistol) but the rest of the day it looked like I handed the gun to Ray Charles. Obviously the sight radius is a lot smaller than a rifle and I'm pretty sure that's where my problem arises. Any tips?

When my groups start to open up I remember this.

It helps me the most.

Another tip I learned was to squeeze the gun hard enough to make the gun shake, and then let off a little. Thats the recommended amount of grip.

Lastly... and i struggle with this... is consistent finger placement.

Have to disagree with this one. picture on far right looks correct to me. That is the most sensitive part of the finger. Then again most pistol triggers suck and they are hard to judge the break so it is not going to matter.

I found what helps me the most with both rifle and pistol is dry firing at home.

The GyroJet!

During the early sixties a small company MB Associates, founded by Robert Maynard and Arthur Bill, brought up a new weapon that was intended to revolutionize the world of small arms. Known as Gyrojet, it was sort of hand-held, multi-shot rocket launcher. It was advertised as a silent and capable to fire under-water, but in real life Gyrojet weapons turned out to be extremely unreliable and dramatically inaccurate; also, these weapons were rather ineffective at point-black distances, gaining its full power only at ranges of about 40-60 meters (yards).

I don't post much about my guns but today i'll make an exception.

I bought a IMI Jericho 941F on Gun Broker and picked it up Saturday from my FFL and i'm in love.

The short version is that the pistol is a Israeli knock off of a CZ75. But the Israeli's don't really screw around when it comes to weapons, so saying knock off doesn't really do it justice. Its built by the same company that designed the Desert Eagle, and they brought a version of this pistol to the US under the marketing of "Baby Eagle."
Steel frame, full length slide engagement. Polygonal rifling (See image below) SA/DA. 15+1 in 9mm.
This particular gun is a Israeli police issue weapon that was turned in, which makes it even cooler to me.
The only down side is that its heavy AF and you're not going to conceal it.
The best thing about it is the one thing I can't properly articulate with words, and that's how it feels in hand... which is amazing. It just fits so naturally...

Here is a good visual reference on polygonal rifling. The benefit is less wear on the barrel and better pressure behind the round. The image doesn't do it justice vs seeing it in person.

Couldn't wait to shoot it so I hit the local range at lunch today. 50 rds at 7 yards. Those "little guys" around 4-5 o'clock were the last mag, I was getting lazy.

So i loaned my buckmark to a guy at work so he could take his concealed carry class. He complained about it being dirty because it gets shot constantly, sights being too high for his liking, and the fact that i didnt put the thread cap back on it when i removed the supressor. Then he shot it for his test and came back bragging about how great it shot and how he was most accurate in his class, and how he wants his wife to buy him one for Christmas.

Sounds about right.. Although I am surprised you don't have Fail to load issues with it being dirty. I can do about 150ish rounds before I need to clean it. I have tried new mags, polishing, "haggis" flip etc etc.

You can't use a .22 for your CHL in TX, I think.

Never had failure to feed from this gun. I have had one or two fail to eject in who knows how many rounds. Nothing stops this little gun, when i break down my supressor next time i guess i will have to strip the bickmark down too and give it a good cleaning. Just hard to justify cleaning it everytime i shoot it because it gets shot almost every day. There is always something that needs popped by this little guy, be it groudhogs at the shop or cans on the road or even on rare occasions a shoot and see target.
