I purchased a sig p238 lady for wifey a few weeks prior. That was $600 out the door. I thought it was fair. I still have a few more things on my list.

The list never ends im saving for a m1a right now

Haha, no. I just wish I had one. I eyeballed the short version for a while, but after seeing it at the range and talking to some owners about it, I realized that a 308 has no business in such a short barrel.
I have seen the national match in person and seen it perform, and it is nice. It's not really a precision rifle, but such a beautiful piece.

Re: Short 308's. A friend of mine has a Steyr 308 rifle with a 16 inch threaded barrel and a 2 oz trigger. (Not even joking)
Very accurate and very light. But a barrel that short is at most entertaining for a while, but mostly useless unless you specifically load for it.
He also had an old AMT 1911 in 30 Carbine. That thing was a blast to shoot, especially with your typical 30 carbine rifle loads at night. Holy 3ft muzzle flash.

He told me once to not even think about touching the trigger until I was ready to shoot. He had to tell me that only once.
And it still surprised me every time it fired. I have never ever felt a lighter trigger, and I owned a Savage with a very early Accu-Trigger that I dialed all the way down.

Balanced very nicely and the bolt had very little rotation. Nice gun, I should have bought it from him.
