I love my vector. Super fun to shoot. Especially like the fact that its made right down the street from me. My friend works there and did a little magic to make the gun run even better than it does off the shelf.

I read a gov study that was done years ago and what they found was the bullet with the most mass was the most deadly even at slower speeds. Of course that fancy 9mm ammo did not exist back then..

I'm well aware of the videos and the hype. I wouldn't trust my life to that round unless it was the last thing available. It hasn't been proven in a real comparison test against tried and true rounds like Federal HST, Golden Sabre, Winchester Ranger, and whatever that Hornady round is.

Furthermore, the potential liability you'll face if you actually have to use it isn't worth the potential performance. A lawyer will have a field day with that stuff, paint you as a psychopath who's looking to kill someone (vs self defense). Imagine what a jury would think when they see that video. I'll let @wanderer1 chime in. He's much better at articulating this point than I am.

Basically, that round is the equivalent of the ridiculously jacked up trucks that never go off-road and would snap a drive shaft if they did.

It's your money, but I wouldn't believe the hype or trust my life to those.

Thanks for the links swapmeet. I know these are new and further testing will always be beneficial. I'm planning to alternate these rounds with some "tried and true" rounds in my concealed carry magazine just in case ;) I admit I may have gotten a bit over excited with the ballistics gel videos initially put out, but damn these things seem mean! some (albeit not all) of the reviews are fairly exciting. i saw a few pork rib tests that proved the concept to be what the manufacturers claim.

Have her check out a sig p238. Nice size, metal body so less recoil, get hollow point if concerned... I hear what frank is saying on a .380 being small but a lot of 9mms are too big/bulky for a woman to effectively carry.

Just a counter point on the p238.

My mom carries it, and she finds the trigger to be a little firm. I'm 100% on board with the design and the size of that pistol, but the trigger kinda kills it for me. All I'm saying is shoot one first. Like, put 50 rounds through it.

I have been doing some window shopping and the Springfield XDM and the Kimber Ultra Carry are on the top of my list as my first handgun purchase. I plan on going to my local range in Lake Norman and renting both to try them out.

Or I might just go HAM and buy the Kimber Ultra CDP II :)

I had a Ultra series from Kimber as my first 1911. I would recommend getting a 4" barrel, speaking from experience.

You get an extra round in the mag, more velocity from the longer barrel and more reliability from the recoil system. Read up on it.

The ultra is a fine gun... Nothing wrong with it. But if you're gonna drop a grand-ish, might as well drop an extra Hundo on the better performer.

I carry a Super Carry Pro. It's sexy.
