Old, but still ridin'!!!
you really had to have been out in the water to realize how big and dangerous it was

Amen to that. The outside break was unreal.

I worked on my surf riding a whole lot this weekend and didn't do much aerial stuff at all. The current was pretty crazy too. Can't count how many times I looked up after surfing a wave in and realized I was like a 1/2 mile down the beach from where I started.

just wanted to give some credit to some guys that may not have placed well but i thought rode well..

tom (tomski) - charged really hard in tough conditions(especially for a desert rat) and did one of the biggest reentries ive ever seen (one handed)

nick delgorgio- absoloutly ripped it!...the guy dosnt even ride and he is by far one of the best surf riders on the planet..did his first backflip in over three years in the comp and stuck it..

jerry brandon-when i woke up sunday a.m. and saw double overhead waves with stiff offshore winds i knew jfb was gonna kill it...he did..huge reentries and late slashes on HEAVY waves..he won his heat against serlin but couldnt ride cause he broke his heal on a one handed backy he flatlanded (sellout )

tc for mixing it up and throwing his first backflip variations..

ross killed it as well..HUGE airs and crazy tricks

mike serlin went huge: heal up man

cuong put in some sold runs in waves that were very hard to ride..

pancake pete charged it and threw some big tricks..

im sure im forgeting someone

oh yea one more guy...matt smith went HUGE...ive seen the guy ride beofre but he was on a mission this weekend..he did the hugest flatspin backy!!..super gnarly

pic of joe that LBE took

Hands down, the best photo I've ever seen! When I made that image, I wasn't sure if Joe would make it, and it was an emotional experience to create it.
Seeing Joe hold it over his head with a huge smile is even more emotional for me. Thanks for capturing that Eddie!

I am super glad that poster got there in time. I went with DocWok and Moody but getting that poster there in time was a challenge. Much thanks goes out to my buddy Mike McClaskey for without his efforts on the shipping end it would not have happened. So glad to see. Really nice work Doc!!! Picture is worth way more than words-

I am so whooped and so stoked...

THank you HydroTurf and Blowsion, and hot products and IFWA
these companies take money they get of the industry and sink it right back in...

Thank you !

Get better mike... you scared the crap out of all of us...
and wait till you see the 40 foot backy that did that.
Jerry Brandon, get that shatter ankle better.
Jerry Jones, watch that chin bro. feel better.

Ride hard, put away wet!
Wow I must say that was one of the best competitions i have ever been a part of. Surf was insane and Carrol Anne, Rob, the entire On-Course Events Crew, and Lisa Price all did an awesome job in preparation and keeping the event going strong.

Watching from the tower and having known most of these guys for many years, the riding has gotten out of control (in a good way!!)... The amplitude of some of the tricks was 10-15+ft higher than what i have ever seen before. The surf riding skills represented by each and every rider was second to none.

Congrats to Taylor Curtis!!

Mike definatley threw down the biggest backflip, actually the biggest air most of us have ever seen whether in person or in picture. I have watched him go from a gangly 550 rider in long beach to a certain Top Dog in the freeride world. Mike Serlin has dedicated every ounce of energy to this sport over the last few years and his respect is well earned. Get well soon Mike. We all hate injuries.

PS. I talked to the Masked Maruader today and his voice is still gone, the bruises on his arms and forehead are starting to appear, and he never wants to see an Elmo or Banana again. But he did say being pinned by those two was worth it. (Ms Elmo really liked it!!)
