We use extra slow hardener, you have to be quick with the slow or fast, but in the heat extra slow is the way to go. lookin good so far.

Cool, extra slow it is then!

today's crap I got done:

Old exhaust hole= Done. When i cut out the new hole, I kept what I cut out, stuck it in with some filler, and laid 17oz over it. Pulled the tape off the backside after that got tacky, and added a little filler and added a layer of 17 back there too.

Floor reinforcement in front of transom reinforcement = Done. Single layer of 17 biax.

Engine compartment is officially done except for some sanding in prep for paint in there. WOOT MOFO's

Tomorrow I start making the footholds/tray fit in while I wait on my one way to come in. Tehehe

Well, I didn't really get much done today. It took longer than expected to cut these tricky ass footholds out. I am going to have to foam under them before I can get them trimmed perfectly, or as close to it as I can get... just way to big and awkward to try to keep it in place and mark and cut, ect... Last pic I wasn't finished, but I've since cut the ankle area out too on the right since the pic

I am going to buy some pink foam tomorrow so I can lay a floor in there to mock this up.

I must admit.... I'm being a slack bitch with this thing this week. Luckily, my one way is in, and I should have it installed tonight.... so that means pics later on.... wee

Just a quick update... I repaired a spot on the underside of the front nose rubrail, couple layers of 1708... then I laid a single layer of 8oz s glass over the whole bottom in the front nose area, pretty much from the front of the sponsons forward... just wanted to lay a little something over that repaierd spot in the floor, and cover over where I filled it a little from the outside.

Waiting on:

-Ski Clinic scupper
-Stainless cooling tube for under the tray
-quick disconnects for the fuel lines, primer lines, and battery
-some plastic thing to i can tie strap some stuff up and out the way in the engine compartment, look like those little stock things... uh, yea

Till that crap comes in (Cooling tube mainly) I will be prepping the ski for paint :D

And I forgot to mention, I am going to have to get some different hardener. I guess I will go with the extra slow as Bross recommended. It was about 70 in my garage today while I was imitating a fiberglass pro, and it was starting to gel up a little quicker than I would have liked. Actually caused me to nearly ******** a brick when I saw a few bubbles in that S glass.... I officially hate that stuff.

Meh, if it's just for aesthetics, I don't think I'm going to do it. I am planning on taping off the bottom, and painting the entire floor and bulkhead with gloss white rustoleum... nice durable paint that will be fairly easy to sand off.

Whatcha think?

I think that's the way to go...if it's 4 aesthetics just paint the sucker.

I just spent some time reading over your thread... very nice work man it will be a nice ski keep up the good work....

One note tho.... I lowered my exhaust tube as well to clear the foot holds.... I did not lower mine near as much tho.....

When you connect the waterbox to the outlet tube, the hose will hit the battery.... my hose is half pinched by my battery.....

I hope you were planning on relocating the battery!!!! if not looks like you have some more work ahead for ya....

Good luck on the rest of the build

later!

Thanks.

It's been quite the process, that's for sure. If the rubber exhaust tube hitting the battery is all i need to worried about, I am good to go. teehehe

Have you noticed any harder starting since the tube is lower, and more water is in the tube since its lower?

no i have not noticed any effects like that....

Cool.

and for the record... cooling tubes installed and 5200'd in, and tray/bulkhead/flange reinforcement done to mount the tray to.

Waiting on the scupper now, a day after it's here, the one way and scrupper mounting plate should be installed, and the following day should consist of cutting foam and installing the tray. I'm scared.

Well.... looks like tomorrow afternoon is a go for getting all the polystyrene cut to fit, and getting ready to glass the tray in. Tonight I 5200'd in the one way, and the plate for the scupper, so all I have to do after everything is primed is screw the Ski clinic scupper on that I bought... it's a flush mount, and it seems like it is going to work very well.

It came with course thread screws to just screw it into the back of the transom, but I decided that I wanted to make a backing plate because I don't trust that super thin fiberglass smc CRAP back there. I used an old street sign I had... cut a couple pieces out, double it up, and go everything together. Those big screws really bite into that aluminum well.
