Actually, to be more specific, what I did was take the jug of resin, and the jug of hardener, and I sat them in front of a small heater while I was filling the bond line and under the hood lip area. After it was all heated up with the pigment in there, if you hadn't have known better you would have sworn it was some type of thin black paint. Worked great...

I now have the heater blasting in the ski to get that resin well on it's way to kicking off good.... heat lamps zip tied to a ladder are over it too ;)

What I ended up doing was adding a 6" strip or 12oz biax, and then a full sized strip over that. I didn't have nearly enough 17oz to do the job, so I didn't even start using any. I am not going to be dropping it from 20 feet in the air onto it's side anyways... my balls aren't that big.

Here is a sneak peak.... I nearly undercut the glass (It was really close, but it will be fine) and i got a little sloppy with the evenness of filling the bond line.... . At this point my attitude is sort of like to hell with it. The crap I am doing is overkill anyways.

I hear ya... it's in the high 40's tonight, and I've had my little heater kicking in the garage all day long. It's probably about 70-75 in there at least :D

And I've decided on a color scheme for the interior.... black on the sides, with white painted floor and bulkhead area.

consider yourself lucky. Something went wrong on mine and I had complete delamniation. The entire piece of kevlar came off one side. piece of crap. I think the guy shipped me the stuff that is non impregnable and chemical resistant.

Dont think so. I DA'ed with 40 grit down to the SMC on the bottom deck, i coated that with epoxy, coated the back of the kevlar, and stuck together, then i coated the top.

What peeled off was totally dry on the back, the resin stayed on the boat, when you crinkle the piece that fell off the resin would peel off the front of it and it was dry too..

That seems like chem proof cloth to me.

Hurr. Strange indeed.
Pay real close attention to the other places you used that same cloth in.

The engine compartment reinforcement on the sides are officially done!

Oh I won't... I'm going to have to get some more resin tomorrow. I still have some in my us composites jugs, but it's not enough to get reliable pumps without air.

So I don't have to wait on more resin, I am going to West Marine tomorrow to buy a gallon of West Systems... I can get it for about 80 bucks for a gallon and all the hardener. Does anyone see a problem with pouring it into my US Composites jugs that also have a little of their resin in there if I get the 3:1 like I have?

Looks great man, keep up the good work.

A razor blade and some sanding will clean that epoxy splatter right up.

Are you going to reinforce the bottom too?

Think it needs it? I was planning on laying about a 12" strip left to right at the bulkhead on the floor, but that's it. What shall I do?

Meh, if it's just for aesthetics, I don't think I'm going to do it. I am planning on taping off the bottom, and painting the entire floor and bulkhead with gloss white rustoleum... nice durable paint that will be fairly easy to sand off.

Whatcha think?
