For the record.... I hate foaming. I ripped what I did first back out. I poured it, and I am going to have to go and touch up spots. Matt, regarding the gravity thing, you couldn't be more right.

Today's goal: Getting it totally foamed, sanded down, and glassed over. pfft

Wasn't too bad... now for the filling and glassing if I get my lazy ass up...

Should have everything I need to bolt up the rn pole the end of this week or the beginning of next...

This is before I came back and rolled some more bubbles out.... I was wondering if I should trim those side pieces up or not but I don't think I am going to. What you see is microballoons as filler, one strip of 17oz biax running left to right over the bracket, and then a piece of 17oz biax covering it all. I am going to tie the side reinforcements into the nose piece, and I don't think I will have to worry about that mounting area's strength at all.

Tomorrow afternoon I will be foaming and installing my WCF sponsons or either prepping everything in the engine compartment for reinforcement in the next couple days.... we shall see :D

I dug out a lip all the way around the edge of the sponsons so extra epoxy glue could pocket there, and I'm glueing them on like Yamaslut does. Caking it on thick behind and letting it ooze out, then removing the screws and cleaning all the edges up.

Thanks dude. I am hoping to have 100% of the hull work done and ready for paint by the 15th of April... after that it will just be waiting for money to come together to pick up those last few parts.... carbs, paint, here and there minor things. I am hoping to get those cooling tubes from ya either next week or the week after that. Probably next week though :D

I just got the left side sponsons all epoxied (3/4 cabosil, 1/4 micro balloons, maybe 3:2 if not 4:1), down... pending how quickly it hardens with the shop lights on it will determine whether or not I will get to do the other side tonight :D

Lookin great man !

I'm slowly learning how to foam, glass, etc. by reading helpful threads like this.
I'll be doing footholds, sponsons, foam, glass/reinforcing, etc. to my slug Kawi, with the help of dirtybird and his brother.
Can't wait ! :bananalama:

Keep up the good work ! ! !

Thanks!

Aaaaand.... both of the sponsons are glued on.... I'm still waiting for one side to dry up, so I can either remove the screws or grind them down if some won't come out.

Either way... should be glassing one side of the engine compartment tomorroq afternoon! woot!

Woot woot

Reinforced one side inside the engine compartment...... black pigment and all.... I'm waiting on it to dry now so I can go out and trim it up if need be... the black makes it really hard to tell how saturated the cloth is, other than that, WOW it looks badass!

Matt_E!!!!!! Heating the resin was the mother effing ticket dude. No air bubbles, it soaked right in just like it was polyester resin. Excellent tip!
