Well it's been a while since I have posted . I have finished all my community service and am off the work release program not to mention it's BELOW 98 FREAKIN DEGREES ! Fall is here , so it's back to work.
Yesterday I sanded and prepped the bond rail area ( this is a redo ) thanks to Scott S . He did a bond rail mod . After riding it he called and said , " it was simply Fabulous" , " a must do " . He considered it the feel good mod of the summer . Well ... thats not exactly what he said , I digress . Any way I decided I'd do the same so here is the preliminary foam work.
Pic 1. Pink foam cut . Notice the routed groove this allows the edge to mate flush with the deck other wise you will have a void or a lump or something half ass. All i know is it took a extra 30 min to do it right.
Pic 2. Screwed them down to the bottom deck used a thin 1/4 inch lath strip as a backer . Cut it at 15 degrees with a Bosh jig saw . The reason I picked 15 is because um um um hgh r um it's my favorite number ... ol lucky 15 . Seriously, it is my favorite number . I lucked out using that particular saw because it gave me almost exactly what I was looking for . Wanted 2 1/2 but got 2 3/4 .... I'll hit the easy button and take it .
Pic 3. Side view .... well thats it , just a side view
I will say most measurements are a feel thing . I started with my first angle at 45 degrees ... It' s my second favorite number however , It looked to shallow . The next setting was 15 cut a test piece and it just looked better. I'm leaning toward things that may tighten up the handling a bit . My feeling is It may be a little loose if anything. Shaping blending the edges tomorrow hopefully glassing this week end.
Thanks and much hate to Scott S for giving me his double top secret bond rail mod method . It's really not bad and would be easer on a hull than was bonded together. Something to think about over the winter . He seriously did say Fabulous .
