Ummmmm weve all seen much worse come off perfectly running salt stricken skis. Clean em up, make sure needle moves freely and finish this saga already
I can stop posting if y'all like. Seems most everyone is done with my build anyway. Now it is just problem on top of problem. poop I'm getting tired of it lol.

I already bought new carbs yesterday evening. I even stopped by the auto parts store yesterday for a bucket o' carb clean to sit the parts in. When I got home I was greeted to stripped bolts, missing o rings, flaking springs, and general nasty. I'm done with these carbs. I'd always have it in the back of my mind 'should I have replaced those...'
For $330 for two freshies that is good piece of mind in my book.

yes chix those look like the salt crustacean carbs I had from a salt bathed seadoo! you're going to notice a big difference, considering you've basically been driving that ski on around 1 carb.... whats the delivery date on the carbs?

As far as the title thing is concerned, I get that alot of the AM hulls dont come with titles, especially when theyre just hulls and not r2r..
but, lets say for example, when you buy a r2r Rickter from blowsion, or from rrp/rickter directly (if possible) do those come with titles, or are they "for closed course/rec use only" and just come with a bill of sale?
They really aren't the worst I've seen, but why deal with them as an unknown when replacements are so cheap. Definitely worse than I expected though. So many O-rings were torn/gone that I'd hate for a gallery to be stuck with rubber, etc in it. New ones should arrive late next week I think.

No, Blowsion is not a manufacturer so no title. It is up to the owner to get a title with pretty much all aftermarket stuff. I have spoken with a few people in TX, one guy said he had to go to the TPWD 7 times to get his Rickter right. Said they freaked about the DASA engine not having a number. At least my engine is based on a 760.

Awesome, I think the fresh carbs are a good way to go for piece of mind. My issue at first was I wasn't sure if it was a carb issue. I thought it was a chalk valve issue, then a tank vent issue, then a tank issue itself due to a recall, then I had found a cracked filler neck, (they were a common problem on that ski, as they were plastic instead of the hose tube like most filler necks) so at least you tore those carbs down and eliminated everything else, and you'll be happy after you put some fresh shiny carbs in.

Question: I think I remember you said that engine was on the shelf for a while (maybe I'm thinking of another build?) but how long did those carbs sit? Did they come off of a fine running ski and then you transferred them, or where they on the shelf for a bit, you installed them, and had running issues?

And, I for one am not sick of this build, I actually enjoy the videos

Sat on the shelf 2 years or so, ran with the same engine fine before previous owner pulled.

I'm not surprised they gave me issues. I am surprised that this issues were delayed and the extent of nastiness inside.

No need to stop posting. It's YOUR build for a reason lol.
There's a bunch of people in here that enjoy your updates because each issue you run into I bet there's 4 people hitting the same road block and could use the outside perspective.
Your build is one of my favorites because of the depth and time you put into it.

As far as dirty and still working? I know a guy with a 650sx and you can't even read "mikuni" on the side of the carb because it's so eaten away by the salt.
It's also the fastest 650s I've ever been on and can literally rip you off.
It's what's on the inside that counts XD

I'm definitely not sick of your build thread ,it's people like you that post all this honesty info that really make this forum, and the fact that you put video content in also makes for good reading each day,so keep doing what you do because a lot of people enjoy it :)

Cool! I know as a subscriber 'dead' posts can be dissappointing. But personally I like following those threads since it gives me a reason to escape the crap that is going on at work hah.

Always the unsubscibe button to save you from the monotony. Hopefully some post of substance soon.

Like I told another member earlier today, I am very grateful so many people on here and Facebook have taken the time to help. I'm a fkn n00b that jumped in head first.

Well new carbs didn't go as planned.

Put new carbs on. Starts. Pukes fuel into front carb. Take new carbs off. Take front carb apart. Needle hung. Cuss a lot. Find sand particles collected at bottom of diaphragm area. Wtf. Look at fuel filters, filled with sand. Remove tank (that I cleaned before installing). Angrily pour out fuel. Tank filled with sand.

Someone suggested it is leftover sand from sandblasting & cleaning tank for welding.

Didn't happen on the first ride because I had different mismatching (better) fuel filters. Switched to matching different fuel filters for second time out and apparently they let the fine particles past. That is why my needles hung last time and not the first time.

So furious at the tank and the poopty filters. Just hope I didn't screw my engine.

It's good to see you are preservering through all these setbacks. I've done a lot of builds through the years and most of the time these problems rear their ugly head. My 08 RN I put together last year really tested my patience. However you will work through them and have the satisfaction when you get everything 100%. Hang in there.

Thanks for sharing you successes and disappointments. I'm beside you with my Rickter build, it has been an adventure. Two weeks ago I took it for its first ride and the new pump failed - bearing failed.

Hang in there because you are an inspiration to the rest of us dealing with similar issues.

Thanks for the the thread. I have been skiing for 30+ yrs. and just decided to go aftermarket and you have given me some heads up on things I would not of thought of. It never would of dawned on me to flush a new tank, after reading your thread it is now on my to do list. Sometimes this hobby can seem like a job!

It takes the sting off a bit when the thread actually provides more than entertainment. Makes it worthwhile to spend the time to document like I do, thanks for the feedback. Need to edit all the footage taken after the last video yet.

Pretty bummed though, going to take off this project for a little while. Problem after problem, it has become an obsession to finish it. Heading towards burnout so time for a little something different. May be a few days or a few weeks, I'll pick it back up again soon.

I wish I was capable of taking a break. It would save me some stress, but I'm just not mentally able to do it. I think I have a touch of ocd. Good for you and good luck.

That's actually a good idea. I'd recommend stepping back and and re-approaching it without being flustered. Patience does wonders for issues like this.

I have a lot of OCD, takes a lot to let it go for a bit. I keep telling myself just a hobby....

So you can see my frustration build as I go through the diagnosing process lol.
