Looks better with no rail but if you intend to ride it youll want a splash deflector. Mine bugs the crap out of me with splashes just over 1/4 throttle. Rocks the water right into your eyes. Lol my rickter doesnt splash me as much cause the hull bottom is shaped different. Bob was the same way. It would rock the water straight into eyes. Im actually thinking of installing a splash gaurd on mine. My boy simply doesnt like my rocker because of the splash. Fyi
I like the no rail look of the rickter, but blair the splash sounds annoying! I think if I wanted to go for the kdx or freak style rail I would need to go a little more aggressive with the rocker so the top deck has an over bite.
Thanks for the link! Its still kind of hard for me to see the difference on my phone, the freak rail is flatter and I can see that its cut short and tapers out thicker. The big thing for me is whether the top deck overhangs the bottom deck, from the pics I have it looks like thats definitely the case for the kdx.
Forgot about this over the past couple weeks. Held some cash aside to pick up another ski for the time being, but then I decided it would just be a distraction from finishing this thing so I'm back at it again. Still need to pick up some more biax and I think I'm going to get an xmetal pole now. Also went ahead and did a rough cut on the rails, after riding a bob over this past weekend I noticed that the splash didnt really bother me that much. If it turns out to be a problem Ill make a splash guard or something.
I still have the sectioned portion of the front rail that I can use to make a mold for a fresh one. Then I was thinking I could add a lip and bolt it right to the hull if I end up needing it.
