FX-1 making the first Tom21 carbon fx1

ok so I been draggin azz a little lately. long days, weeks in row caught up with me. so bottom came out pretty decent. I was trying to not put 15lbs of gelcoat in the hull and its a little thin in some areas so the finish is not perfect. not a major problem.

its just out of mold and still has clay and pva on it.

weight on bathroom scale is 21.5

Tom, how hard was sealing up that multi peice mold? This was infused?

yes, infused. like anything it took a little work to get it right. in hindsight I would have done a few things differently but it works as is so I guess I should be happy.

the real devil is the inserts that are hollow. This makes more things to deal with. the multipiece mold is more work to prep every single time. But there is just no other way to do it and keep the tubbies. this is not a complicated mold either, I have seen some way more complicated shapes and many pieces. so much so that I dont even understand how the heck you would lay up in it lol

this was tailored to come in at 20.5, and it did. plus the gelcoat. its 25lbs. what a fatty!!!

I had these next to each other in my shop and had to bring them out to take some pics. the all white makes it a little difficult to see alot of detail but hopefully they show up better online than on my phone.
