I watched a little last night...I'm probably gonna skip it....just like sons of anarchy...just not for me anymore....violent as hell man! How about some TV shows come out that show violence where it belongs...people taking back their country!!
To be fair, watching any of the Season 5 shows would give you a bad taste with regards to violence. That's not what the show is about. An over-arching theme over all five seasons is that actions have consequences and that there is a real, pronounced line between good and bad. The show's characters are free to choose their own fate, but their actions have consequences - some short term, and some very long term. The darkness in Season 5 is ultimately the consequence of the main character's actions over the seasons, even though his motivations were pragmatic and believable as they started in Season 1.
Watch the first episode of Season 1 and see what you think. The characters have tremendous development over the five seasons and it's unfair to judge the show based on just the penultimate episode precisely because the show ends on a very very dark note. IMHO, that violence that put you off wasn't there for violence's sake but to illustrate what happens as consequence to personal choices.
More generally speaking, drug use and violence are never shown glorified or anything other than bad during all episodes of this show.
Give it a chance and start with the first season. The main character starts out as a bland, dorky high school chemistry teacher who simply wants to care for his family. He ends as drug kingpin who achieved victory over several drug cartels and has dozens of deaths on his hands, only to lose out on everything that was ever important to him.
PS: I tried giving Sons of Anarchy a chance and did not care for it. Watched a season and a half.
