MSD vs Atp flame total loss????

i think theres a reason a whole lot of race cars, boats, trucks ect all have msd ignitions...and pretty much all msd ignitions feature multiple spark discharge. cuz it WORKS.

bottom line, muliple hotter spark will always beat a single weaker spark. especially in any high compression or boosted engine.

personally i prefer the big seperate coils and multi spark discharge, but i also like the tunability of the flame. also the flame installation is nicer imo. so to make my decision easy im getting an epic and paying the bills with the money saved. thats the best bang for buck for me lol

well aircraftsalz said that they are running the same set up back to back , and there is no difference. so i agree with what waternut said, msd is more available and cheaper so why would you want the atp if your more limited if it fails, plus what is replacement cost for a brain if it fails compared to msd ???

i heard the oposite about this and that the flame made more jam, i rode that ski and man all i can say is dammm!!

one of the main reason i think it would be worth going in the flame dirrection is not having to go buying a new brain every year (hopefully not!!)

Hotter spark this, multiple spark that,..................
How about what truly matters, flame front speed ?

Oh and since MSD is race proven and made in the USA, I must run out and buy a Chevy Montecarlo or a Ford Taurus right now. They're great at turning left from what I hear.

I say what kind of warranty does the flame offer? or ability to resolve an issue if ones comes up!

that would make my decision for me.

heres what i dont get there are a couple comments about msd being cheaper?

msd list price is $1700, the flame is $1350.... someone help me with my math please?

warranty on the flame is 90days against manufacturers defects, but if you had a problem atp wll work with you, they will take the unit back and diagnose it, they can even tell you that you fried it becasue you wired it wrong... etc etc

my original question was not to start a war

i simply asked has MSD Proven that the multi spark discharge makes a difference?

as for USA made verses british? Not really sure of the point here, so long as there are companies who ivest time and money into our sport....

how much new development has MSD made on the ignintions? how much does it invest into our sport?

id rather drive a BMW with a smaller motor than a mustang, the BMW would smoke it, bigger is not always better, some times ignorance is not bliss

ive heard this comment alot.. there are quite a few guys who are dropping a T/L system all together

for me, im trying a FLAME for the first time so ill give my honest opnion, ive avoided T/L for many years so far, i never wanted an MSD because i didnt like how they were installed plus i always saw people having problems

That being said i also know that the problems many people blame on an ignition are not neccesarily anything to do with the ignition, but its an easy component to blame

Junkyard has an MSD so we can quite easily do a back to back test once our lakes thaw
