I think it's a great way to get budget limited people on the water and having fun. I always love seeing new people come out and ride. You can see the smiles from the shore.

I can't wait to see these at the dealer and hear ride reports on them. This would be a awesome ski for family/friends to get involved and at a cost that doesnt hurt the wallet. Warranty as well? Sounds good to me.
I've been riding stand up skis since the early 80's and this is the only time I have ever considered buying a new sit down ski. I always own one sit down for my family and friends to ride when they visit. However, I can see myself spending more than my usual ten minutes on this Spark. It is clearly a step in the right direction and I anticipate it to be a huge sales success for Sea Doo.... I just ordered my Spark to assure delivery by early spring 2014. I ordered a base two up model with the HO 90 HP option.. For the price ($5,300 plus tax) I felt it was an absolute bargain. The dealership at it's PWC sales peak in the 90's would sell about 300 skis per year compared to about 30 ski today.. I am certain they will sell 30 Sparks alone if Sea Doo produces enough and the dealer can get them. This will give a boost to the new PWC market in a way that it has not had in well over a decade.
Regarding stand up skis: I have been pleased to see so much interest in them from younger people. And I agree the price of a newer SJ or SXR has kept many from considering a modern stand up ski.. The price of a Rickter or other custom skis is just way out of reach for many young people to ponder. I see an opportunity for a stand up ski to eventually come from this new material and process.. If a stand up ski with a four stroke was built with this technology the four stoke would still have a total weight less than an SXR. So, I can see the potential for a truly modern and inexpensive stand up to be more than a niche product.
After speaking to the dealership owner, I was encouraged when he mentioned a new Kawasaki stand up Jet Ski that may be released in 2014. He expects it to be a completely new hull with clean two stoke technology. I certainly hope this will happen and I certainly think a machine priced right will sell well.. Perhaps nothing like the 80's or 90's but enough to justify the manufactures to get back in the game..

The 2-up one is way more fun, extremely hoppable and spinable. The ibr is Wut it is, but having the trim is great.

Are these hp # correct 60 hp for the 900 and 90 for the 900 ho.. 60 h.p. seems low for a 900 four stroke even.
Are the 3 seaters still somewhat stable..
Where do I find info on pricing ,there build and price option on the website isn't working yet.

My dealer told me 5k plus freight and other fees.. About another 5-600$. Price was 6500 for the non ibr 90hp version. Both 2-seaters. I asked what the motor differences were and was told nothing. It's just a added tuner to bring it from rec mode to sport mode. I like the ski but 1500 for a tuner is nuts.

Some of you guys are getting it but some are missing the point, take my exemple, I own an SJ that I love to ride but I also own an XP Limited when I wanna go ride and explore different lakes and rivers, have a beer with friends ON the lake, bring my girlfriend for a ride and just cover a great distance on a lake. Lets not foul ourselves, Stand-Ups are great but they are defenetly not the swiss-knife kind of PWC.
I have put a deposit for a new spark to replace my XPL, YES its will only go 50mph instead of 60 for the XPL, YES it only has 90hp instead of 130 (XPL). But let me tell you these are concession I more than willing to make to have no more oil, 5 times less fuel consumption, 200hour top end life (XPL), removable top deck, 150lbs less (XPL 550 Spark 405) No carb, Rave, Fuel Line, Carrier Bearing, Carbon Seal etc etc maintenance.
I think this is be the best thing to happen to the couch market for like 15 years !

I know a half dozen guys that wanted to get into the standup game but just couldn't afford it. A brand new 5k standup would increase the market imo. Eventually used ones would be even cheaper. Where I'm located, stand up riding has gone from a handful of guys to a large group of guys who travel around the state to meet other groups (like we just did this weekend). The sport is taking off here, we now just need a more affordable ski to allow it to all come together. :thewave:
But to stay on point, from the video I think I approve of the spark. Seems like a step in the right direction as long as they stick to what they say.

Just seen one today. They don't look to bad. The seat is actually narrow and half the size of modern sitdowns. Overall it's not bad. I guess I didn't pay attention enough but the entire ski is composite. I thought it was just the top deck but the bottom deck is as well.

Has me interested enough to buy one. I figure you prop it right, maybe a pipe and different ecu mappings and Blaster fans would still have fun on it. As previously mentioned, it does seem to get out of the water pretty well as it is.

Am I the only one that watched this in disappointment that BRP, who owns Evinrude, who makes amazing clean burning awesome two strokes, is STILL on the stupid ass 4 stoke kick? I will admit it is a step in the right direction as for size and weight, it looked like it came out of the water nicely and all but this 4 stroke bullkills me.
I am with you EXACTLY. This is going to be slower than a 550. It is going to be REALLLLLLLLLLY SLOOOOOOOWWWW. Light, and small is good, but a 900cc 4stroke...you've got to be kidding me.
I can't possibly see buying one. If my wife wanted a couch, I would get an old Seadoo XP 800 2 stroke and fix it up.

I think your totally missing the point. You might have the desire to buy a 20 year old ski and wrench on it yourself, but your the minority. I own a ski shop and I would say most of my customers love the idea of a new, fuel efficient, light, reliable pwc with a factory warranty. Obviously this 4 stroke isn't a powerhouse, but it's exactly what the industry needs. People want an affordable and reliable ski at a low price. Listening to people whine about 4 strokes is getting old. Everybody hated 4 stroke mx bikes and said they would never compete and look what happened. Can't even imagine swapping my 450 for a 250 2 stroke. I'm not saying a 4 stroke Stand up is realistic, but in a runabout I think it's 100% the right answer.
