I looked at the ski at length and talked to the SBT rep (don't remember his name, but he said he runs SBT?). Anyway.

Motor looks good, all new production by sbt, pretty cool they invested to make new jugs, cases and etc!.

The pole setup looked like xscream to me, with thrust steering. The pump was an absolute UNIT for the money the thrust 155 setback mag had a nice nozzle on it too!

The turf and foothold setup looked high quality to me (a know nothing)

The SBT rep was very clear this is a high investment product and they believe in it; nice to see SBT investing in new tooling not just used poop!

Also, Depalma's sister was looking good in the booth.

So far we’ve been pretty happy with our S1. We made a few adjustments to make it more comfortable. (Static trim, taller shock pad, ect)
They were all a pretty good improvement.

If anyone is in Havasu they can come take it for a rip!

I did remove the head to have a look inside. It is a ported cylinder which is pretty rad. Nothing too extensive. Much better than OEM Yamaha.

In a few weeks I’ll try diving into it more. Getting Demi’s ski dialed is the priority for now.

Do you have any info about how it will be with spareparts?

Ported meaning hand ported or do you mean the ports as cast are larger than a stock Yamaha?

Seems like it would be pretty wild for them to be hand porting all of them but, maybe?

Real impressive to get that sorta performance from just a 760 / 155. How does the hull compare to something like a V3?

It’s just a fiberglass / carbon look version of the competition line of hulls.

It’s still infused and not wet laid. So that’s why it’s not overweight.

For a glass ski it’s really light and capable.

Probably has to do with the replacement market, didn’t want to pigeonhole themselves. Easier to take metal away than put it back.

An widened port will help performance and still last long enough for the demo. I would hate to warranty a freestyle engine. The engine builders have to back off compression and timing unless they trust kids to buy expensive fuel. Our performance expectations are probably too high for a turn key boat. The only way I can see this working is if easy financing is also available. Otherwise just sell all the parts cheap enough so more people can get a boat going. I think riders would be of higher quality if they had to assemble their own ski.

Trust me when I say this but there are many jet ski owners that shouldn't even be allowed to own a wrench , I realize stand up riders are in general way more capable of working on their stuff than sit down riders but I said what I said.

I was able to take the highspeed demo ski out for a spin this weekend. My thoughts are this:

It's the perfect way to break into the flatwater freestyle game. All the components are there. Get on the ski, get comfortable, get the controls all set up for your height / weight and start huckin it. Traditionally flat water skis are super intimidating... expensive, super powerful 1000+ccs, and extremely awkward when coming off of oem skis. Every time I was ever able to take a flat water ski for a test ride I walked away thinking "why TF would you pay 30k for that." With this ski, the power is manageable, so the initial rides allow you to actually get a feel for what its like to ride the short boat.

A seasoned rider already has an idea of what they want from their ski and they choose their parts accordingly.

For the beginners, LSP has taken all the guesswork out and made some good choices for you.

10/10 pricing, 10/10 execution with the SBT partnership (if they hold up)

I think LSP has the opportunity to expand into markets that are untouched - just need a unique marketing strategy. Almost every stand up enthusiast I know found out about standups by chance / word of mouth. I imagine Krash has had success getting regular folks into it given they’ve been alive for over a decade now. Once you hop on a standup you’re pretty much intrinsically hooked, it’s just difficult to get exposed. Excited for what’s to come
