I am impressed with Madmat's stuff. The steering system is super sick. I want to get the hood latch system for my Trinity (genius). The handlepole is pimp and his hull has already taken a pretty good beating....

I don't think I would order anything custom from him, but if it was in stock, I would order some parts.

I am curious about a smaller sized SXR/Envy that still carves like an SXR. My Trinity is -2 and Madmat's Envy is -2. They ride very similar and have very similar power except for our steering systems. (he has a wayyyy shorter tighter handlepole)

sweating what? you asked a question...maybe your forgot, its ok

you said:

"what makes me ANY different than the above posters [matt E, BK]?

I answered back (in paraphrase form):

1. both of their ability to barrell roll a standup jetski

2. each one regularly contributes an insightful opinion

the only thing weak about said engine is the way it makes your knees feel when you look at it, or what it does to your body after a 10 minute ride

the power of a 5mm BB on a stock crank and single carb? that'll do nicely thank you :headbang:

double or nothin'?

dont forget the super trick ignition that even charges the battery haha

i guess i do have a mild case of motor envy.:smoker:

Did WDK take any bail out money? NO! Has the inovation and quality improved on his products over the last 5 years tremendously? YES! Is the delivery of a quality product assumed when purchasing a custom part from WDK? YES! Will the delivery be timely and as promised? PROLLY NOT! Is it the same service recieved and expected from others in the custom Jet Ski industry? OH HELL YEAH!

All the above questions and answers are from my experience and not speculation.

I bought a REV and had serious reservations about it once the inner liner seperated and the hull cracked. I know of many others that are still holding up today and did not have this issue. I had other issues on the handling as well. But I can say that WDK made it right in the end and admitted that there were issues and that he learns from them and makes things better I.E. (the Envy) and no more inner liners.
in the 3 years I have ridden my REV I have seen MANY aftermarket hulls and being that I assembled mine myself I could see the areas most dont see on mine and I know how it is made completely. Others I have seen of the same materials were definately not of the same consistancy and quality of my REV and until recently they were ABSOLUTELY not as inovative as far as design.
I see and hear people talk about 3 mos to recieve there hulls and 2 mos. late and DAYUM when will it be here ALREADY. But never a BASH THREAD. I have seen (in person) some seriously SHOTTY craftsmanship and some nice craftsmanship and for the $ I still think that WDK can produce as good a hull as ANYONE in the industry. Spend $4k somewhere else and receive less hull, Spend $6K somewhere else and still get a lesser quality and IMO lesser inovation design then you would with WDK at the same price.

YUP you may have to get in line and wait a while but that is common knowledge and lately common practice for most QUALITY custom suppliers in this industry.

Case in point, been waiting 2 mos. for a crank from Crank Works (just got it yesterday). They told me 3-4 weeks? It is what it is in MOST CUSTOM industries.

Listen to the peeps who have ACTUALLY dealt with Jeff and then read between the lines. Is waiting 4-6 weeks longer than you were told really all that different then ANYWHERE ELSE? Not in my experience.

I am definately looking forward to the new hull design and I think if you are thinking of purchasing a QUALITY aftermarket hull you will be seriously disservicing your interests by not waiting and checking out this option as well.

Who else offers PREPREG hulls? NO ONE!!!!!!

Now as far as dry pipes for the 66E, another story and I think people who know pipes know it is not easy to produce a cost efficient pipe from scratch. He tried it and it just ended up non feesable IMO.

but when it comes to MOST of his ventures, his time effort and inovation pays off.

So........is there actually a new hull coming?? I hope so because when I was down in Daytona I saw pretty much everything out there and nothing grabbed my eye. Can't wait to see what he comes up with

yup! Molds done but first one not assembled yet.

At first I thought Jeff was behind the BOB adventure so I called him when it was UNVAILED. Seems the Cali boys are on were thier own on that one, but he has been back on his project.

How do you feel about Prepreg RiverRat? Worth the added $$$$?

Prepreg carbon is worth the $$. The best combo would be vinyl ester bottom deck and a prepreg carbon top and hood. There is such a thing as too light!!! If this new hull is what it is rumored to be just a vinyl ester hull would be awesome

I am thinking prepreg "S" glass for a total weight of aprox 70#. Prepreg Carbon is overkill IMO. PLus I hate the way carbon reacts with the alum in my Rev. it freakin eats it up. Motor mounts and so forth.

I did a little bit of research on prepreg "S" Glass and from all appearences it will be as strong per lb of weight as a wet lay up vaccum bagged carbon hull.

IDOK

whats up with the clear coating? Fill me in?

Paint does not adhere well to prepreg glass. It is amazingly strong stuff, but it can flex allot without cracking. If you paint the hull and it has areas that can flex, the paint will crack and flake off if the glass underneath flexes. My x-jet never had that problem because it uses a good core material and stays rigid.

Unless you are referring to the carbon hull IDOK.........the guy that cleared that was a retard

Prepreg will flex more so than a wet layup? Really????
There is no choice but to paint the prepreg as you cannot use gelcoat with epoxy resins.
Definately something to look into. I am sure with propper prep and priming as well as alot of flex agent in the paint / clear it will be fine.

but if you have info to the contrary I would really like to know.

It does seem like they severed their ties with Waterdawg.

The one thing that always stays the same is that things will always change.

They still work close and are good friends. Jeff helped them with some info on the hull as they helped him with some input on motors. Definately no hard feelings about it. Different designs and different concepts. The guys at the Ski Clinic are go getters and wanted thier own hull, I think that is admirable as does Jeff.
