What sand paper U used to do that???

Clear coat is really mandatory to keep this?

well I sandblasted... that turned out to be a mistake. so for sandpaper I used 180 220 320 400 600 800 then 1000. If I hadn't sandblasted I could have started with 600 probably and saved myself a ton of time. Then I used mothers aluminum and mag polish to finish it off. I polished part of my pipe and it was a constant battle to keep the water spots off. It was not a lot of work though. just rub it down with polish for 30 seconds and its back to perfect but you have to do it every time you ride. There may be some sort of wax or something that will keep it down but I don't know what it is.

I did sandblasted parts in the past..... after I found out "glass beads blast" and this is a lot better.

Some machine shops also offers a liquid that clean up parts very well without remove material... but I never tried to polish it after that.

The glass beads blast and that liquid will make a painted YAM engine looks like the later non painted ones.

Looking good! during the summer to keep down the water spots/stains on the pipe try "Ducky stain remover" Some may chime in on this and say use vinegar but that really smells bad!

more great stuff left at my doorstep today. I guess the pistons got shipped to the wrong place. I am getting down to crunch time now though. I only have about a month until the weather can be warm enough to ride. Hopefully they will be here by monday so I can have the machine work done.
