I tried to brush a thin coat of epoxy resin with black die in the bottom of mine and it fisheyed like a MOFO. Had to sand it best I could and just paint it.
Alight ribs are ground out as much as they are going to be, man that was a huge mess. I have it all wiped down so I guess I will fill the bond line next. I am not sure if I will get to that tonight or not though.
It stuck, fisheyes are spots from oil or silicone where paint wonts stick. They make like 'holes' usualy in paint. google it, its hard to explain. It looks and felt awfull.
Good luck, so did I. It was BRIGHT white when I put the resin on. I sanded it with 80 or 180 grit too. Id just say dont put it on super thick cause I had to sand it down and if it does fisheye then you have to sand it a ton to get it smooth cause the fisheyes make like divits. use ur prepsol in there too
its going to be a mechanical bond any ways so I don't see what a 1 inch difference is going to make. I plan to hit this with some 36 grit before I lay the carbon.
I think it is getting a little darker but not much. I think it would work better if I could have kept the water near boiling for about 24 hours. once the water cooled off it really slowed down with soaking up the die. I will give it until I need to order my oem stuff so it has a couple more weeks.
grezz you were right the por15 did want to fish eye in a few spots. not bad though, nothing I will have to sand and fix at least. I have also been working on wet sanding my flywheel cover. I am almost done with the coarse stuff so it should start looking good quick.
use the little icon with a mountain and a sun in the new post window, then just post the direct link to the image in there. I upload them to my photobucket account.
