Other Pennsylvania fish commies stuck me bad tonight!

the fire extinguisher you are required to carry, is not only for putting your own boats fire out, it is to aid another boater if necessary. its kind of unfortunate that our single person craft, falls under the boat category and laws. if there were enough of us that our tiny voice was heard, they might change/modify the law in our case. that aint going to happen!

Lol did u see the video of the v drive on fire and did anyone have an extinguisher no lol. But how did the fire get put out? Local jet skier put it out with the jet from his rxp. Pretty crazy stuff

there was a boat on fire at miller ramp dock a couple seasons ago. X2 greg ,antioch carlos and others , got an award for putting it out or coming to their aid. about the only trick carlos is worth a :):):):) at was the firehose and he doused that boat big time. it was kind of cool.

Yah well laws aren't always about logic or making sense. Instead, it's about forcing everyone through the same narrow-minded bull:):):):), no matter what.
It's downright surprising when it's not that way. Example: In WA, each vessel is required to display a Carbon Monoxide warning sticker. You get it with your registration and can be fined if you do not have it on your vessel. State law allows for an exception for PWC.
But:
  • the DMV person printing the registration for you has to be aware of the exception and most are not
  • if the DMV person is aware, he/she must still know how to print the special registration
  • the cop checking you must be aware of the exception. Not a single one I've talked to knows.

In fact, the cops don't even know about homemade HIN's/Hulls. I feel like talking to them is an educational experience about boating laws for them, not for me. Nice guys, but don't know much more than the standard 5 things they need to check.

Lol... I'm due for a similar set of fines. Maybe worse. Haven't reg'd my chan, no Hin, no reg numbers, no extinguisher.

I was about to register it as another Yamaha but once I found out I was getting a replacement hull I kinda lost interest in going through all the effort.

Really sorry about all your fines man, good luck.

I can warnings all Dan day fo just sitting there, I have a eill Pete front foothold so no place for extinguisher because I keep my bottle with tow rope, plugs and tools just in csde, because my crap never catches on fire but I blow plugs every other ride. I've trained with Sheriff water rescue division in the heli and boat. So they never bother to ask anything other than watch me and even throw a few wakes. But go to the delta and suddenly im revkless because my ski seized so i threw It on my buddy's swim deck and pulled it back, and of course thats dangerous as the wakeboarfers ride with no jackets next to us........Yeah real fair....

Sad thing is, gov't doesn't look at it from our side. If ur ski catches fire in the engine compartment (which is very likely) the sec you open the hood to extinguish the fire with ur handy extinguisher you will be engulfed in flames by the quick introduction of oxygen. Now I'm no fire fighter but that's common sense there. Fire + oxygen + burn able material = BIGGER fire lmao

I'm more pissed that I can't continue to practice back flips. I spent a ton of money on this boat just to do that. And now it's reckless. Helmet or not. Can't do it anywhere in the state according to this db water cop. I see myself getting in more trouble this year. I don't plan to stop now. I almost have it!

So I am curious. Exactly what makes the water cops "commies"?

Oh and I wouldn't assume that what the cops assumes to be the law is actually the law. Find out for yourself.

Once again: fire extinguishers on boats are for your own and for aiding other boaters. Most boat fires/explosions occur after refueling or first starting them, where you would be able to grab your extinguisher and help out.

Also, we came upon a bad crossover accident on I-71 on the way back from the Cleveland Rock-n-Ride and it was nice to be able to grab my extinguisher and give it to someone to help. Unfortunately the 4 teens died, hopefully from the t-bone from the semi and not the fire.

Besides, it just helps prevent problems like this to be compliant on that little issue. I kept mine wrapped in turf and wedged between the flywheel cover/chamber/gas tank and never had issues with it.
