ive ran the outters for years on all my skis

Granted i havent test side by side to see if it actually makes difference. But the majority of people i talk to have claimed they choke the engine a bit. Guess you kinda have to weigh the options of protect from watar against more air(power).

I tend to get a decent amount of water inside my hull combined with how i ride, so i like the sound of mind i get by running them.

granted im only running a BB 781 so nothing too big... but i think i may try removing the outters @ daytona so i can make an accurate review

I had some on my SXR after I swapped to AM Flame Arrestors, I had a time getting the carbs tuned it, Finally pulled to the side of the lake, pulled off and all the issues went away........ Ran them on my SJ years ago with no issues, but it was on OEM 38's. Guessing the smaller carbs did not get effected as much as larger carbs. who knows.

prob hit it on the nose....

combined with big motor it makes sense to me.

Ive just notice that not many of the Aftermarket skis ive seen on here rarely ever run them.

biggest problem i have seen with them is water getting trapped in the filters and causing it to choke the air flow more. makes tuning a nightmare when that variable is constantly changing on you.

Except that they aren't any good at protecting against water, either.

I ran outters for about one season on 44's and hated them. Water would stick to the outers and choke the motor down. Ended up going with oem and all is good. If you can OEM is the only way to go IMO.

Outer wears work and do not choke your motor IF AND ONLY IF you clean them from time to time. Two strokes have a pressure pulse back through the carbs that brings with it some fuel and OIL. The oil clogs both the filter but worse the outerwear and then your motor bogs. I am an advocator of stock f/a, however just to prove it could be done i have been running open element with outerwears all last season. Consensus is clean them every other ride with a mild solution (LA Aweseom or simple green diluted some) and youll be fine. They are a must for salt water surf riding with open element filters. Plus why wouldnt you want to keep your motor from ingesting water .......

What I found far more effective was making sure I had a good hood seal and eliminate the water from getting near the carbs in the first place. After that, outerwears are far from essential and more of an annoyance.

Water with its high surface tension has trouble getting thru the fine mesh of the outer wear, I've noticed it just beads up on the outside of the outer wear and runs off.

after looking at the pictures, if they ski "grips" too much, and wont slide like you want, cut the back bondrails at an angle. this is the first time looking at your pics on a computer rather than a phone. those straight down bondrails are gonna grab. still, looking good dude.
