Freestyle Power Factor Pipe Myth

Running the power factor pipe with the power factor water box we have had zero issues with flooding the motor (Back flow).. No scupper or exhaust cover needed... We have these pipes in flatwater & surf skis! Now long ago with the Resinator you always had back flow problems, just something we had to live with. High idles, & always keep the ski running when riding & it was fine.

Once mark came out with the water box that solved all the problems, made more power off the bottom and no effect on Mid to Top end power, sounds like a ski on a B pipe... Makes everyone happy thats riding around you! Not cool to be that dick with the loud ski

I talked to Mark the other day when I picked up 15 pipes for Brian. He was telling me about the waterbox & testing he did, he said the funny part is guys think if the ski is louder its making more power... We had a great Laugh about it

Im looking for some set up help - ive just ordered a PFP to replace my B pipe

Ski spec 846 Xscream, avgas domes, ATP total loss, ATP twin 48mms on boyesen mani.

I assume carbs will need to be set up from scratch again and the ignition curve will need looking at ?

I'm moved by DASA power!
I've heard rumors this is primarily a flatwater style pipe, How do they work on surf skis? too much HP? Damn it, now im thinking about spending more money again!

I love this pipe on my surf ski... The hit is right where I like it, not that big B pipe bottom snap and its over... Great bottom end hit that never stops pulling... high you rev it the harder it pulls

For all those who may take the plunge:

Usual jetting changes? (ie. up two sizes on average, etc)

Prop changes? (Taller or shorter)

Ignition curve changes? (ie. start retard later and set rev limit higher?)

Everyone should already know they need a new gas tank with these.

My Jetworks 850 is so spot on with a b mod pipe I'm too scared to change anything but it is tempting.

The cool thing I guess, is that you will still have that set up to go back to.

Im getting a DASA 850SS and am contemplating it, but Im used to a 710, I think the extra 140ccs might need some time to get acclimated to before I go and add one of these and hurt myself. Any thoughts or should I just go balls out and get it out of the way and learn all at once.

Balls out and adjust once lol! If I was able to, that's the way I would go.

I'd like to see someone who has time and resources to take the time to try and jet one on a 701 - 771 ish motor and let us know how it does. I'm curious.

Usual jetting changes? (ie. up two sizes on average, etc) On my XS1000 I went up 1 Jet size on Both Pilot & Main... B pipe had a 127.5 /140 on FS49's.. Power Factor w Waterbox 130 Pilot / 142.5 Main... #60 Restrictor with both setups

Prop changes? (Taller or shorter) Normally its down on the bottom & up on the top by 1 size.... on my XS1000 I didnt change props from B pipe to Power Factor and it was right on.. I think you rode that motor setup last year in my freak

Ignition curve changes? (ie. start retard later and set rev limit higher?) Some Guys start pulling timing out at 4500, I start later myself. And Yes Higher REV limit

Everyone should already know they need a new gas tank with these. 2, 3 & 4 Gallon Jaz tanks work great... Brian at Thrust can help ya out with that

You might hurt your self with a Power Factor pipe... IMO B pipes SUCK.. Great pipe on a 701, other than that...

Are you coming down to Daytona? Do it once & do it right! Dont go big & then hold it back... The Dasa motors like to rev & make great power on there pipes

What pitch impeller were you running in the superfreak with the 1100?

I know it's really close but I'm trying to work out Daytona, work is the issue for me, too much of it more specifically. I'd love to get down there and may just drive down for the weekend, I don't think I could get away for more than that.

What popoff you running? Im loving the power from bottom to top.. but my wallet is burning a hole in my pocket every time I fill up.. Running 13psi seems to be sucking so much juice cruising up the 5knot limit river, once I get out in the bay I'm half a tank empty! Anybody got any other advise on if I should increase by much? Running rich as, plugs comming out silver clean on the outter rim, wet/gloss glack on the tip - but IMO I tune by piston burn..

I have ran a b-pipe with a carbon mod chamber and a pfp with a waterbox and a resenator in my Ada 828. The pfp makes a noticeable change in power but between the waterbox and resenator, there is no change in power but even though it sounds bada$$ with the resenator it is very loud.

I still remember pulling into the launch and hearing your ski running for the first time. I was down wind but could hear that thing from literally a mile inland. Way too loud, thanks for posting up that you think there is no change in power between resonator and water box.

just do it youll sell your b pipe in a heartbeat and wont be dissapointed, primarily the reason i got mine is im building a ski from scratch by the time i got a b pipe and a waterbox for another few bills i was at the powerfactors price and nobody ever had a complaint other than there impossible to find, almost got a b pipe but :):):):)ty factory pipe service and ignorance really pissed me off, got my powerfactor from thrust yesterday and its sweeeet

i know the story never said anything about who it was made by but you cant order a powerfactor exhaust from factory pipe. doesnt help when you call a place and they answer saying theyre not open. :bigok:
