Its bigger than the square tube, 2.25 ID is what I have, should fit a 2 3/8 ID RN exhaust hose fine.

I wanna get itchy so if this last pic is about where they should be I am going to start cutting. Let me know, Im skerd.

Im cutting the holes in an hour or so in the location of the last pic unless someone objects. I think its about where it needs to be but I submit it to the quorum first for approval.

In all seriousness though I dont want to mess this one up, Im sorry if Im coming across like a broken record but I want to get this one right for sure.

I feel better now. The holes are cut but I do need to chase both of them with a Dremel tool to open them up just a bit more to fit the tubes.

I liked that hole saw cutout pic that really demonstrates the layup schedule well. Everything is looking good!

I was pretty happy when I looked at the cross section, I cut it at an angle so it looks thicker than it is but its still pretty darn thick, no concerns about the back of the ski now lol.

Im going to be re cutting the holes for the cooling lines and steering cable tube tomorrow. I have three lines, two for dual cooling, a third for trim or a stock bilge. Are the stock locations for the main two cooling lines ok? I have seen people put a third tube above the left side cooling tube in most builds, I figure that is the generally accepted location.

The steering tube is sort of funky on these square noses, maybe the round noses too but Im not sure since I have never messed with a round. When I removed it this year nothing was holding the plastic nut to the pump tunnel side of the pvc other than some glue. Is that normal? Is there a better option?

Thanks guys.

On my rn the tube was threaded and screwed into the back of the male fitting the nut goes on. It also had a foam gasket on the inside. I just screwed it together tight and sealed the inside with 5200. Wish I had better pics but these are all I have.

That tube is way different than the square nose tube. That looks almost flexible, mine is a hard pvc tube with no threaded bit except for the nut that goes to the steering cable. Ill have to take a pic in the morning, I think there is a reason they changed it when they designed the RN, it seemed like a pretty crappy way to do it. No bond between the hull, nut, and tube except for glue and the threads popping through when the outer cable nut is installed.

Yeah it is a somewhat flexible hose that’s ribbed inside. Just having glue with no mechanical fastening seems pretty stupid. Then factor in 25 year old glue and strain every time you turn. I looked at the parts diagram and they sell the piece but it doesn’t look like it comes with the hose. But it shouldn’t be hard to attach whatever pipe / tube you want to run.

I have a few couches out back, I bet they have a similar piece, they use a flexible tube as well.

Edit: Just checked with a flashlight, they dont put the steering cable in a tube on the couches, they do share that piece you linked, they seem to be a common part.

Here is the square nose one, there is no mechanical bond between the nut and tube. The piece you linked just pops into the tube after it and this nut are installed and I guess it gets silicone to keep it from leaking, no mechanical bond to the tube itself from what I can tell.

After thinking about it, it will be fine. I still dont care for the way they designed it but a flexible hose like on the round nose doesn't seem much better either so I will just use what I have. Im thinking a ton of 5200 around the joint should be enough.
