That's a pita. Could have been any number of things. Is it localized to one subsurface product, like just over one foam type . Just trying to grasp at straws.

Over the metton on the right side only in one spot. Only thing I can think is that that side was away from the heater and it was a miserable day, I think it was in the teens. I also may have turned the heat down too soon the following day and never allowed that side to finish curing.

My prep was good, sanded down to the bare metton with 40 grit, cleaned thoroughly and wiped down with acetone. Only real difference was the hardener used and the temperatures I was dealing with outside, even though I had heat on where I was working. Some of the area where I used the same resin is fine, it just seems it was closer to the heater.

Thankfully its the only area on the ski I used that resin.

I think your right, temp fluxuation is big for me to. I am currently trying to get some resin to go off. I was paranoid about not having enough time. So when I started the resin was at 60 degrees. As I progressed and saw I was going to make it. I put a heat gun blowing across all my premeasured resin cups trying to warm it up. Pot life was supposed to be 160 minutes, it still hadn't gone off at 240 minutes. I finished the layup put it under vacuum and turned the heat up to ninety and left.lol

Thankfully this didn't happen after you painted the ski and had it all assembled or on the water and just about sink ya!

So I'm not going to lie, that fiberglass snafu Took a ton of motivation out of me this week. I moved on from that and spent a few hours ordering parts and a few hours grinding the engine bay.

I figured out how I'm routing my exhaust hose. I'm going under the carbs with a Coffman silencer I impulse bought last year to a 90 up to the hood seal and from there I will use a cut section of hose off a couch that will fit perfectly. I'm still planning on running the water box, I'm eyeing the jetmaniac waterbox. Should make for a quiet setup, don't want to piss off the want to be Pro Bass fisherman on my local Lake.

I ordered some G Flex resin in the 32 oz variety, I'm going to use it for my handle Pole aluminum fiberglass Junction as well as make some thickened glue using cabosil for my through hull tubes.

Additionally I ordered a primer, purple waffle Turf, purple marble waffle turf, Hood prongs, and RRP tensioner block.

Hopefully my back holds up and I can fiberglass the engine bay tomorrow.

It's 5200 on the inside of the tray, I figured I'd give g-flex a try for the external stuff. If it really is ill-advised I can always pick up a tube of 5200, it's no big deal.

Thanks for the heads up.

Got it. Just did mine yesterday with 5200 inside the tray.

Just got some more stuff in. This build is really starting to see its end, I would say I'm at the 80% mark, turf is a sign I'm getting close.

I ordered Waffle and I may come to regret it, it looks amazing though. I'm going to use purple on the floor and Dash and marble on the tray sides and rub rail. I'm hoping the marble well let me cover up any imperfections on the gunwales since I will need to but a seam somewhere.

I also got some other odds and ends I needed like primer, Hood prongs, spring tensioner, and pole Bolt.

I saw the chiropractor today so I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be good to Glass tomorrow.

I just mocked up my hood Hooks and boy it's going to be close. I really should have gotten the low profile Hood hooks but I think between the hood seal and maybe a washer or two to change the angle on the prongs I can make it work.

Additionally with the scraps they sent I threw them in the tray to see what it would look like. I'm really looking forward to getting this part of the project done, it's going to look pretty. Paired with Plum Crazy Paint it should be sexy.

I really like what you have done to this old boat so far! It will look sweet when your done. Do you think it would be possible for me to replace my stock SN thru hull exhaust tube with out cutting my try open? I know my ski is defoamed so Im basically asking if i were to cut around my tube i could get it out and slide a new bigger one in? Does your new thru hall tube have any bends in it or is it straight? I am pretty good with glass work so thats not a worry to me. Thanks
and keep the updates coming
