How does this hull compare to a superfreak? Anyone ride both?

I have a nice SJ surf ski and been wanting a flatwater but from the sounds of this, I can just swap everything over into a carbon rok and have the best of both worlds? It'd be nice to have only 1 killer ski, not 2 nice skis, especially on the wallet.

I love the way my carbon ROK rides but I rode a carbon Superfreak this weekend and it was AWESOME right off the bat I was confortable and loved the way it handled. More time would tell more as always but initial opinion was WOW, handles great.

Curious to see how they hold up. Is the a $3k difference in ride between the Superfreak and ROK, I dont think so but that is a matter of opinion. I love it but cannot see the extra $ for it unless ya just have it like that.

See my post on the ROK earlier in this thread, my opinions are the same 6 mos. in. I was able to get a carbon ROK for less than a glass Freak so I went that route. I now have 2 carbon ROK hulls and I like the glass ones as too for the $$$$. But if you want the ultimate ride and handling and can afford the hull, prep and paint work on a freaker then it is the way to go IMO and as far as the hulls I have ridden over the last year. I may sell one of the carbon ROK hulls and put some cash with it and build a superfreak, just to have both but I am still undecided, winter is coming and the lead time on a freak is long so I need to make up my mind sooner rather than later for sure. There are good and bad on both hulls and the differences are huge in that area, but both tollerable / fixable issues for me.

Thanks for the indepth reponse. It seems these two hulls are debatable as the top two, especially when you include price (the freak may be better but $3000+ better?). I guess the best thing to do is to ride both and see what I like more, decide if the price difference yet customer service is worth it one way or another. I don't know of anyone really that has AM hulls though that ride near me unfortunately. My plan is to build one up over the winter (as I am sure everyone's plan) but I gotta find the right deal on a hull because there definitely is a budget. I'd much rather ride my superjet for another year though and save for the right hull then get a hull now that I won't be as happy on. I am complating that carbon rok in the for sale ads on here though, otherwise I'd be waiting until the fall to buy. Decisions decisions.

How much are full carbon ROKs and what's the weight?
I would love to try one. I came close once, but the motor was acting up.

Its alot of Money bro. I know where you can ride a carbon ROK and a Carbon Super Freak at the same time. You will have to go to Atlanta on a specific weekend but the flight is worth the price if your seriously considering a purchase soon. PM me if you want details.

its not only a 2k difference bro. $8500 for the assembled carbon Freak that needs alot of visual and physical work. The rok comes in GOOD GEL COAT.

Dont get me wrong I am not saying a freak aint worth the $$$$ I loved the one I rode this last weekend, its awesome. But the facts are the facts.

I know its near impossible to get a carbon ROK, I been through it. But I happen to have 2 now. The ROK in carbon and glas is a GREAT DEAL IMO for what it cost but nothing comes without its issues. INCLUDING THE INCREDIBLE RIDE OF THE SUPERFREAK.

I wont say the ROK is the best hull but I will say I love mine and it was VERY REASONABLY priced.

Compare the glass hull prices and ya get the same differences on these 2 hulls as well. If the freak came in looking like a Rickter then the price would be much more feasible IMO.

Good points. You need to be willing to do some prep & paint work on the Freak, that's for sure.

Not sure. I didn't have to do anything to my inserts.
I did add some additional inserts to use a standard battery tray, though.

either way, Tem did an incredible job designing this hull. While I am not a big fan of the looks of the ski once I rode one I fell in love anyway LOL, The boy has some serious functional design skilz. Glad he converted to skis thats for sure.

The last ROK I saw was pretty damn nice looking inside and out (even though I don't care for that nose!). It was a shame I couldn't try it out. I don't know of anyone having one in the Pacific Northwest anymore, either.
It's kind of a barren wasteland when it comes to aftermarket hulls up here.
There were a couple of BOB's, but they have been sold. There was a REV once, but it's also gone.
That leaves only my freak and an old school WCF hull.

EDIT: I just remembered that a buddy out west has a Rickter.

we have a mess of AM hulls around here now and its awesome to try them and see the differences. The SJ hull is a BARGE to me now, I cannot ever go back LOL.
