Some of It peels off but the rest doesn't.. I don't like that and dont trust Glassing over it for sure

Lol yeah sanding sucks. This paint doesn't really sand off easily, but a scraper with a razer blade works somewhat decent. I hate stuff like this.

Ohhh okay! Yea this was definitely full of a few surprises. Nothing super crazy. But damn this paint in the engine bay top deck sucks. Majority came off with pressure washing, scraping, and now it just sucks. Lol
What factory stuff surprised you?

Mainly missing spots on bulkhead where there was no glue. And on the bondrails. I was mostly shocked at how many pin holes were in the glass

Lucky me there's no pin holes because there isn't any freeken glass on these metton top deck things. Duuude I just shined a light through my bulkhead LOL.. I see right through some places..

Lemme rephrase that.. If I look at where the bulkhead is bonded to the top deck, I can see spots where daylight shines directly through. That's really sad.. There's some spots that definitely have no glue. Good thing I'm gonna reseal that up now. Lol

I'll be doing something like that too probs.
Okay, little bit of a disclaimer. With the pink foam, I stuffed everything pretty tight, but there are some gaps near the bulkhead where you could slide something through if you wanted too... Like a zip tie.

Zip tie easily going through bulkhead into tray cavity :

factory fail! Without 2 part foam to seal everything up , that could sink a ski.. It's almost like that one aquabots bulkhead lol

Tons of updates! I have gotten an absolute ton lately. I ground off all of the weird white paint on all the surfaces I was going to glass in the engine bay, blended the ribs a little more, ground down some plexus so I could get the 1708 biax to lay good. Filled the bondline with thickened epoxy along with some chopped strand mat to add some rigidity, then laid a big piece of 1708 biax extended from the bulkhead to the set of 3 ribs in the top deck of the nose. Didn't come out perfect, but came out pretty darn good and has definitely added a lot of strength! While the ski was tipped over, I also laid a piece of 1708 biax on the side of the tray. The next day I did the same on the other side. Yesterday, I put the ski up on a Hefty tractor lift upside down and got to work on grinding the paint off of the handlepole bracket area along with underneath the hood seal area. This thing is gonna be ready to take some killer pancakes.

I laid 3 layers of 1708 biax getting progressivly bigger. One piece that was 9x5, the other 9.5 x 6, and the other 10x8 or something like that. The last piece was big enough to wrap around the hood seal area. There's a bit of excess glass that I'll be grinding off, but it turned out super good. Then I took 4 strips of 10 oz e glass and laid one strip underneath each direction underneath the hood seal area. So 2 33 x 2 inch pieces, and 2 19 inch pieces. Then, I laid a strip of 1708 biax towards underneath the rear of the hood seal to add some more strength. Since I had some excess resin left over, I put a square of biax in two rear corners of the way top deck.

Today, I'm going to flip the ski over and get to work on the tray and the engine bay! Need to do a lot of prep in the engine bay to get off some old adhesive from the tank and waterbox mounts. Might take a little bit to grind it off, but then I'm gonna lay some glass to the areas that got vibrated into, and fix the hole that was rubbed through from the waterbox. Gonna lay 2 layers of 1708 biax in the tray, and then a layer of 8.9 oz e glass over the sides of the tray extending into the bottom of the tray. After that cures, gonna put footholds in, glass in with a couple layers of 8.9 oz e glass, and then put another layer of biax in the tray over them. Should have that done later this week. I accidently ordered 2 x 1 slow hardener, so I have to get some halogen lamps so it cures faster cuz I need to get this done fast.
Also today, I'm going to finish grinding out the hood liner and reinforce the hood and make a repair. While I'm waiting for that, I'm gonna clean up my engine cases and gasket surfaces and get assembling the motor this week. Hoping to start assembling the ski late this week, and then water testing and break in next week.

Yesterday I worked on my ski from 4 pm to 12:30 am, so I'm determined to get this SOB done for the dells! I will get some pics later. It's all going supa good!

1708 on engine bay sides and sides of tray.

Ski up on the Lift, pole bracket area glassed with three layers of 1708,and then 10 Oz e glass all around the hood seal, and a strip of 1708 underneath the part of the hood seal that's near the tray.

The it was onto the tray: 2 layers of 1708 biax on the bottom, and then a layer of 8.9 e glass wrapped around the tray sides.

Then it was time to fix the hole and paper thin area the water box rubbed through, and reinforce other rubbed areas. I used 2 smaller pieces of 8.9 oz glass, then like 3 smaller pieces of 1708 biax, and then one big layer of 1708.its strong now for sure!

All major glass work is done. Only thing left to do is glass in footholds, and reinforce hood. I ran out of resin but a buddy's hooking me up with a quart kit so I can finish this sucker off. Since I have plenty of biax but not plenty of resin, I'm going to use polyester bondo resin for the hood liner, but glue it in with epoxy or 5200.
also, today after school I'll be cleaning up all of the engine parts so I can get ready for assembly. Engine should be done this week, and I should be able to start assembling shortly. Got finals next week and all of my hard ones are already done, so I'll have plenty of time to work on my ski then. Hopefully it's fully assembled by early next week so I can break it in and be able to go straight to the dell's and tear it up!

all engine parts are pretty clean now! 2 bottles of carb cleaner and 1 bottle of engine degreaser and a razor blade and a soft wire brush to get the gasket residues off. Used a wire brush on a drill to get the majority of the head gasket off.
Just gotta drill and tap my cylinder head for dual cooling, then it's time to wash everything down with soap and water and get to assembly.
