July update.

Just shy of 90gallons have gone though the motor already...I have been riding 3-4 times a week. Amazing season so far. I have not put a wrench on the ski yet since the first ride. Only wierd thing I've experienced so far was with the PVs. 4th of July weekend there was a state trooper boat camped out in the middle of the main channel behind my house. So one day I was not jumping any wake. Instead I was absolutely WHORING the motor out WTFO creek riding basically for 5hours...lol Towards the end of the day the ski was feeling a tad sluggish. While packing up I took a look over the motor. The PVs were leaking oil and the rubber boot seemed to not seat right on both PVs. All I did was lift the PV up with my fingers and let it seat itself. Looks fine now, and it feels full power again. Not sure what the deal was, but it looks like a small amount of oil is still leaking thru the PV. I havent worried about it, and have just been running it as is.

Pre manual lift of the PV and allowing it to seat.

I had that happen to me a couple times when I first got my motor. I cleaned it up and put the bellows back on. Mine has been fine for a year.

Thats what I figured.

I am going down to Daytona in 3weeks for a week surf trip, I'm going to have XS tune both my boats in one day while were there. I know the 865 and 771 have a little bit of power being left on the table.

I should have knocked on wood....

Got lucky and last min didnt have to go into work today. So I went out for a quick lunch hour ride, 10mins into it one of the cooling hoses popped off the bulkhead. My single 500GPH bilge saved my ass and got me back to the beach. The bilge also alerted me to the problem by pumping water when it should not have! It saved my motor! Good thing the Rickter & Mag pump have the big 1/2" ID hoses for cooling, so the pissers kept pissing off of the one good hose for the 5min ride back. After inspecting the hose, I found the UNCRIMPED oetiker clamp still on the end of it...dumbass me forgot to crimp that one! Impressed it lasted this long. Gonna wait till the afternoon when it cools down to pull the EBOX and rear FA to reinstall the hose and clamp. Also going to take the oppertunity while EBOX is out, to pull out my EPIC programming lead, as I have been running the slow Xmetal curve since the beginning (never installed a switch).

The good news was this happened on the ride where I kicked my 3rd gallon of Pennzoil full synth 2 stroke oil. One stupid problem in over 99gallons of run time is not too bad.

Doh! I had that happen a couple of weeks ago. I looked down and noticed that my pisser for the motor circuit was dry. I don't know how long it had been dry at that point. And I still had to idle 1/8 mile back to the launch.
The head boiled water off it for about ten minutes. Same deal, the 1/2 inch cooling line had slipped off the bulkhead fitting.
I thought I was in for a new topend for sure.
I went home, pulled the head and expected the worst. Bores looked new (70 gallons through it).
Sure glad for that fancy oil.
It pays for itself not in everyday riding but in extreme situations like this, imho.

Im with you on the good oil thing, that cap'n feller ran mine with a clogged water line at the races a couple years ago and cooked the long exhaust tube, no damage to the cyl and its still going good.
