Deciding whether to ride my SN for another season and build a cafe bike or get into an AM hull.

Decisions...decisions!

Which 900cc engine did you decide on?

Going with what I know for this one, safe is lame I know but I am a longevity buff so............. DASA 7 port 10mil 900 this go around. I really wanted to try a PHP and was nearly convinced until I started thinking hmmm single ringed piston, proven in other industries but not in water ingestion industries to my knowledge, I am a fan of smaller bore larger stroke after running bb ss motors in the past they seem to need more frequent top end maintinance (some will disagree due to rod angle) but the smaller pistons have less wristpon side to side preasure and long rod strokers reduce some of the rod angle issue.
It is to each his own really but my mind rationalized the DASA and it is what I know most about. If the $ were any where close I would have gone with the Xscream 11port 10mil 900 but for me the $ was incredibly higher. You must also understand that this boat is being built to ride and sell eventually so I have to go with reasonably priced but proven reliable products to keep the value up. PHP is being inovative and offering very cost efficient products and I think thats awesome, I just cannot nut up and be a part of the testing on this build. I want to ride a few and see how they hold up long term first. There will be plenty of people jumping on board with him and this time next year I hope he is BLOWING and GOWING bigger than ever.

oh my goodness that looks like a ton of fun.turbo motox sled. Id be in heaven with that. send me a link to info on those

sjrider..im right there with ya on the longer stroke smaller bore, frequent rebuilds are a bummer, almost as much as slow throttle responce. If you want something really time tested,on a budget with good longevity, ride one of arts new non pv srtoker motors,I was really impressed with it,dirt cheap off the shelf pistons and rebuild parts is a bonus..

building another dual purpose surf/flat ski with a new concept motor, crazy big pump, light weight hull, monster pipe and with some fast detunes fig out how to make it surf rideable for a few hours without wearing ya out...i think thats where the market is going eventually

Don't you upgrade every year anyways? That makes you a perfect candidate for testing different products. You could always run standard pistons with the lightweight crank. Just discussing options, not hating on your decision. I'm sure that Xscream is a mean machine also but at a cost.

wonder how these handle in anything other than deep powder?looks super fun,the last time I went out west to big mountain sking,I ended up having way more fun renting sledsin the mountains.I can see how these guys get so hooked on it,one of the only things ive found that gives surf riding a ski a run for the money in fun factor to safety equivalent

Camaro67_BretErvin_front_PRKR[1].jpg Going to catch up on some work with my '68 camaro that I put off this summer to be with my jet skis. (This is not mine, this is my ideal "finished project"). So if anybody has any camaro or older chevy parts laying around im finishing up metal work and need to buy/trade for some car parts. Besides the maro ill be working on a BOB (1st AM hull) and a few project skis.

Those track kit are made for backcountry riding, they are not designed for trail. There is a kit for snowcross available too.

Ray a buddy of mine is building one of those this winter also. I never got into sleds but god damn! I'd be all over one of those since I was into offroad dirtbike racing when I lived in NH. Not a cheap build but looks unbeatable for a winter hobby! Post some video when you get the hang of it

I'm in NC so just about year-round riding here...currently my ebox is apart awaiting a new MSD enhancer as mine seems to be done. I'll keep it running through January (friend is having a polar bear party and then Daytona of course!!). Then I'd like to tear down and repaint in Feb/Mar, and fix a few things that I don't like. The paint's not so bad, but I'm really annoyed with myself for storing my gas jug too close to it on the way back from the Lake Erie ride...it rubbed some pretty serious rash into the nose on the 10 hr trip  so dumb of me.

Sweet, what kind of motor do you have in it?

Ha no motor right now. thats the plans for this winter or first thing in the summer. options are Big Block (454, 468, 502), or an Ls1/2/3. Hopefully a 6speed hooked up to either motor set up. Id prefer to stay carb motor cuz the fuel injection motor fit better in the newer style musclecars
