Thats really cool about the custom XM pole... That might be the way I go, I like the Carbon pole but you can't adjust it. Its always nice to have that extra to play with. Your going to love your hull, & that length is perfect...
TEM GET TO WORK! J/K
can't wait to ride with ya, I know we got plans for Wave Daze, Surf slam has been on the list, Pismo Oct ride for the FL freak crew ... So will see what happens
I'm telling you the -4.3 ski rides great, I would build a -4.3 if we only had 2ft surf... But there's days when we get clean 4ft-6ft surf, plus our summer storms can bring us 8-10ft surf which the longer hull will be better...
My -4.3 rode fine in that crap Daytona surf we got this year, its really not going to hurt you... When Chad rode Lucas's ski that setup is pure FW, but if you run a 62t or 61x reduction with a front mount battery it rides the same as the full length hull.
I think you would love the -4.3 if you ride FW 90% of the time, I can ride mine WFO so boat chasing isn't a problem lol
At Wavedaze I will have my -4.3 Carbon Pro & -1.25 S Glass, Not sure if Chris is going... But Tem talked about it, if he can't make it I'm sure I'll bring some of his Demo Ski's with me. I'm booking my Wavedaze room tomorrow. Also think Lucas is going with his Superfreak(s)
I got to lake flush Tem's red ski at my lake last evening. It is fun to ride flat water with these new hulls. I have ridden icemans, joshs, and lucas all with 1000cc motors, but this was my first lake test with the JM710.
It is amazing how easy these hulls handle. A friend (occasional rec rider) from across the lake tried it and said that it handles the way you wish/want a superjet to handle.
I tried some setup wake backflips also. Keep in mind this ski has no mag pump, stock cdi, and no trim! I was getting around close to backy to nose stab amazingly especially since I su@k at setup wakes. I think lucas might be able to flatwater flip this setup as is. Give me a boat wake and I am confident that I would be routinely overrotating flips with no trim.
Would it be advantageous to get the thru hull fitting moved up in the pump cavity to mount it higher, to reduce the angle for less binding? That way you can top mount the steering cable instead of bottom mounting it.
The new ride plate with rocker makes the skis ride shorter and turn with more hook up and less slide action , but you need a turn nozzle that has the steering arm raised like the trim nozzles have. There's a few things you can do to dial the ski in for the way you ride, if your within a couple inches of where you want to be then no problem . You can make a full length flip almost as easy as a -4.3" it's all in the setup , ride plate, rocker, reduction nozzle, turn nozzle, pole length, weight, C.G. (including foot well placement) all have a big impact on the ride .
Speaking of poles.....no way to run a spring that I can see. Is it the old "crank it down until it's tight" method?
I talked with Tem about that Matt. My back sucks and I need a pole spring. I am going to try to mount my pole to the brackets then slide the brackets down and bolt them in place. Hope it works.
