I ride predominantly flat water, unfortunately. -4.3 for my hull, and I settled on 40 inches for the pole. (The red demo ski had a 38 inch pole)

Thats really cool about the custom XM pole... That might be the way I go, I like the Carbon pole but you can't adjust it. Its always nice to have that extra to play with. Your going to love your hull, & that length is perfect...

TEM GET TO WORK! J/K

can't wait to ride with ya, I know we got plans for Wave Daze, Surf slam has been on the list, Pismo Oct ride for the FL freak crew ... So will see what happens

we need to get together for wave daze, me and the wife are going.. trying to get blake to go too

At Wavedaze I will have my -4.3 Carbon Pro & -1.25 S Glass, Not sure if Chris is going... But Tem talked about it, if he can't make it I'm sure I'll bring some of his Demo Ski's with me. I'm booking my Wavedaze room tomorrow. Also think Lucas is going with his Superfreak(s)

I'm telling you the -4.3 ski rides great, I would build a -4.3 if we only had 2ft surf... But there's days when we get clean 4ft-6ft surf, plus our summer storms can bring us 8-10ft surf which the longer hull will be better...

My -4.3 rode fine in that crap Daytona surf we got this year, its really not going to hurt you... When Chad rode Lucas's ski that setup is pure FW, but if you run a 62t or 61x reduction with a front mount battery it rides the same as the full length hull.

I think you would love the -4.3 if you ride FW 90% of the time, I can ride mine WFO so boat chasing isn't a problem lol

I think that nozzles and ride plates will make a ton of difference. Even the way Lucas' boat was set up it still handled great and was amazingly stable. It was just a little nose high off idle. Like Josh said.....that is probably mostly his set up.

The new ride plate with rocker makes the skis ride shorter and turn with more hook up and less slide action , but you need a turn nozzle that has the steering arm raised like the trim nozzles have. There's a few things you can do to dial the ski in for the way you ride, if your within a couple inches of where you want to be then no problem . You can make a full length flip almost as easy as a -4.3" it's all in the setup , ride plate, rocker, reduction nozzle, turn nozzle, pole length, weight, C.G. (including foot well placement) all have a big impact on the ride .

Feel free to bring my ski with you! :). I'm hoping like heck to have mine for Wavedaze but I know Tem is swamped so I will probably be on the trusty rn and blaster.

I'm starting to collect parts. What is everyones opinion on pole setups? I saw some say they wished they could go a little further back, I believe the Rrp is a little longer than the xmetal. So which one? I realize this is opinion but give me some opinions.

I got to lake flush Tem's red ski at my lake last evening. It is fun to ride flat water with these new hulls. I have ridden icemans, joshs, and lucas all with 1000cc motors, but this was my first lake test with the JM710.

It is amazing how easy these hulls handle. A friend (occasional rec rider) from across the lake tried it and said that it handles the way you wish/want a superjet to handle.

I tried some setup wake backflips also. Keep in mind this ski has no mag pump, stock cdi, and no trim! I was getting around close to backy to nose stab amazingly especially since I su@k at setup wakes. I think lucas might be able to flatwater flip this setup as is. Give me a boat wake and I am confident that I would be routinely overrotating flips with no trim.

I'm moved by DASA power!
Would it be advantageous to get the thru hull fitting moved up in the pump cavity to mount it higher, to reduce the angle for less binding? That way you can top mount the steering cable instead of bottom mounting it.

Nice info right there.
Mine will have a 760, mag pump and trim. We'll see how I do.

Thats what freestyle geek did on his XFT conversion and it worked out well. He moved the cable location so it runs above the cooling boss allowing you to top mount the steering ball on the turn nozzle. When you pull the trim it doesn't try to turn the nozzle that way.

Pole length is really how you like a ski to feel.. My FW ski has a XM adj set at -5, plus -3.? turn plate on top of the pole mounted +5 forward already so overall thats -13.. For flatwater I could go another -2 & be very happy, but its working okay now.

Surf I want a Std length, but now we know XM will make a custom adj pole having that -2 to +1 would be great.

IMO RRP poles look like azz on these freaks, plus there really heavy...

The best poles are Carbon due to weight, its so nice for long surf ride sessions. But your stuck with the length

Speaking of poles.....no way to run a spring that I can see. Is it the old "crank it down until it's tight" method?

Tem,
You say "new ride plate with rocker??" Is that something brand new or is that what your skis have on them now?

I talked with Tem about that Matt. My back sucks and I need a pole spring. I am going to try to mount my pole to the brackets then slide the brackets down and bolt them in place. Hope it works.

Good luck with that, lol

Yeah Matt we are running xm pole bolts, crank um down to the pole has the right feel for you.
