Not me, somebody does though... It's got to come out soon. I think I check in here more for the gifs and to find out who mr brag is than to check on his work. And swap meet, what about and angled exhaust out the back. They run the extensions on the rickters so they dont cavitate, so maybe if you run it out about 2 inches and angle it? Silly thoughts is all

So irritating when you think you just need one part to make a ton of progress, and you get that part only to realize that you need 5 more things.

Not often that I do updates on the weekend, but this thread needs updates something ferocious.
Last night I installed the Blaster drains. (not sure why I don't have pics of this...) and added foam to the left side.

I cut down the metal exhaust tube to meet my 90* exhaust outlet.
Also drilled a new hole in the firewall to lower the hose some. Crazy lucky that I had a hole saw that was exactly the right size.
Unfortunately I don't have a coupler to mate the exhaust tube to the *90..... so I have to find something for that.

The CF that I laid in the back of the ski to patch the exhaust and one way hole wasn't thick enough for me. So I put down another layer of the 19.7oz as well as putting a layer on the firewall where the stock exhaust hole is.

The amount of insulation dust is amazing. I felt like I had been flocked by a gay Christmas tree farmer. (That in itself is a interesting conflict.)

The ole work lights to keep my CF toasty.

Also painted a white fuel filler neck black so I can install it soon.
No pitchers.... :dunno:

So... i'm pretty sure there are only like 3 people following along with the contest.

Which makes me sad inside.

But ya know what, to whoever wins... they're getting something awesome. I'm plan on making it worth your while. (hopefully the winner is over 21....:sneaky:)

So..... todays clue..... is too easy.

Lol it does? I don't even feel like going back and finding it.

PM me and tell me if you feel like it :dunno:

OK...

I need a little help... I need a little help.

just want to make sure ya'll didn't skip past.
Tonight I laid my ski back down after adding the CF.

i noticed that resin was on the outside of my ski. See pic.

Soooooooooooo.... If resin is seeping out, I guess that means water is going to seep in???
This is a major concern for me. I mean, I know I'm using non absorbent foam, and I'll have drains, but still....

Here is another pic, it's on both sides.

any suggestions on how to combat this?

That's CF laid over the holes. One used to be one way, other was exhaust obviously.

remember, the concern is water ingress, nothing more. If resin leaks out from the inside when stood on end, than water will leak in, correct?

youdcikishard, I'll look into it. Shouldn't be my post.

So if I cover it from the outside, (not a fan of this idea...) how does that guarantee that it's sealed? (Serious question)

I already have two layers of 19.7oz CF, so it's strong enough.

What about doing the water test? Fill the back with water (slightly tipped) and see if its anything comes out since the last layer of CF and resin dried?

@txsuperjetfreak, I think I over squeegied some of the resin out on my first layer like you may have. Hence the seepage.
This second layer I left more resin in.

Its a learning process.

I shortened the rear four inches and had to make a new rear on my SJ. I lay out 75oz total of biaxials and 7781s inside. It feels insane strong but heck, I'm going to add a layer or two on the outside. It is a little overkill but better safe then sorry..

Let's say you or Wendy will be jumping the RN off all of the types of waves (setup, boat, yacht, etc) What part of the hull will hit the water first during the landing? It's the rear of the ski that will hit the water most of the time. The impact of water could crack the CF off from the inside.

What I'm saying is.... It'd be better to do both side to withstand the force of water and it is more "sealed".

I hear ya on the learning experience I'm for dam sure getting it on mine, I did my side exhaust like u, I used part of a stock Yamaha black exhaust hose made my own coupling it was a tight fit but I got it to go on, I'm with texan33 on putting some glass on the outside, on my chop I did 3 layers of 17oz biax on inside and 1 or 2 layers in out side plus a layer of cf and it was still supper strong after I cut a whole in it for my scupper

You are really overthinking it, it will leak, if not from there, from somewhere elese. That is why you have poly foam and drains, your build thread is about 40 pages (and 7 months) too long.

1. I over think everything. Ask anyone who knows me. I kinda like it, it allows me the opportunity to get creative, possibly find new and different ways of doing things.

2. I over think everything.

3. If you think this build thread is about the build...

I do need to get this thing wrapped up... thats all I know.

Maybe i'll put one more layer on the the inside. I don't want to put any carbon on the outside. I'm very concerned about it adhering to the SMC having it crack and delaminate because of the force of the water. I didn't want to do a bunch of body work to the outside of the ski.
Maybe... just maybe i'll cut a panel of CF to the shape of the very rear. I dunno.

Getting that exhaust coupler was the last thing holding me up from finishing up the foaming process.
