Its winter over here at the moment and the surf has been killer but im on a work binge and i have been on the job 7 days a week for a long time.. i knew this was going to happen so i decided to do some things to my 09 superjet whilst i had the time to wait on parts. needed new steering and new ride plate.. i went with the blowsion shortened steering system with phat clamp and rrp riser bars, d cut composite ride plate and ATP composite chin pad. Anyway i managed to get a day off over the week end and rode the new set up.. put it this way guys if you hate riser bars you havent used them, the amount of control you get from having that extra bit of weight forward is unreal.. i would reccomend them to anybody, and with the blowsion phat clamp to run on nearly any steering plate anybody can run this setup. do yourself a favour and ride a ski with riser bars..

just my 2 cents

I figured I would bump this thread to see what everyones opinions were on these bars since I need new ones. Does anyone know if riser bars will work with WDK steering

i dont like them, riding them i notice i cant get my hand down as low as i normally do so that messes with my balance. something that can get used to i guess, but why?other than that, they felt exactly the same as stantard bars. the worst part is climbing up on the ski with them. they make it so akward reaching up to climb aboard. stupid.
will these bars make you a better rider?
no.

Now you totally own a bad ass ski with them ;)

I made an adapter plate to run the Blowsion Phat clamp and riser bars with my WDK setup. Details in my build thread. It could be done simpler and cheaper using universal 1 1/8 clamps, which I may go to once I figure out where I want my bars set.

Just put together a cheapo riser bar setup with a set of UMI runabout bars, going to test it out this weekend.

we need to make a formed crossbar that will go over the top of the pole, and a pad that will let it adjust front to back, under it.

Bringing this one back up again.

I'm seriously considering going to a riser system on my SXR with UMI pole.

My problem is that I really don't like 0* bars that much (so RRP and Blowsion Kommand bars are out), I'd like to find some that have some sort of sweep. So, I have a few options.

One would be some runabout/mx bars. Issues with these are they are manufactured to use the cross bar for strength. 7/8" Renthal bars specifically say not to remove the cross bar. I haven't looked for such info for all manufacturers, but I'm going to assume removal of said bar is not recommended. The great thing about running runabout/mx bars would be not having to buy a 1 1/8" adapter.

The other option would be to go with a tapered bar setup like these Renthal fatbars with no cross bar (or Pro Tapers). Of course I'd have to buy the adapter.

The last option would be some bicycle bars, not sure that I like that, but much cheaper (for the most part)

The one thing I'm not sure about, fatbars all seem to have a rise to the grip area, not just sweep (in addition to the initial rise after the mounting point). I'm not sure if that would be a desirable feature or not as far as comfort goes. The one bonus I see about this feature is that it will basically be aiming your throttle and trim cables back toward the plate for a more gradual bend.

The fatbars I'm looking at in particular are the Renthal 672-01 bars. They have a rise of 55mm, but a total height of 80mm plus a pullback of 57mm. They are 31.3" wide, but I'm sure I could cut them down some if I don't like them. Or, on the Pro Taper site the Pastrana MX has a rise of 54mm and a total height of 74mm, so a bit less than the Renthals with basically same width and sweep. The Pro Tapers are actually a bit less money, but $70 is still not something I'm wanting to just 'tryout' and see how I like it.

So buy some $20 steel MX bars and see if you like them?

Here's some less expensive MX fat bar alternatives.http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p...lebars-Control&webCatId=12&prodFamilyId=19027

I've been thinking about doing something like these: http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p...lebars-Control&webCatId=12&prodFamilyId=27406
with a custom pad setup too.
