I've bought a couple of cars there and can offer a little insight. One car I almost bought had a strange odor. I couldn't place it for awhile. Then I gave someone a ride and they nailed it. It smelled kinda like fish.... I opened the cap that covers the 7 pin towing plug thing... It was half full of sand. And the position of that on the vehicle was fairly high up, so instantly I realized that it had been flooded. Thankfully this was within 5 days of buying it, so I took it back and they refunded me. I can't complain about that feature of their business.

Also what is interesting is to talk to anyone who buys cars at auctions where the Carmax buyers are at. They have a list of cars they have to buy. So they send these wet behind the ears kids and they MUST buy this car or that. So all the old salty dogs at the auction will notice when the kids start bidding and they run up the price a couple grand over what it would normally go for.

That's my experience.

Just went and looked at a mint 2003 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Laramie for $5500. Fully loaded with leather and power everything. Only 140,000 miles.

Owner said rarely smoked in but it absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. I was ready to lay down cash on the spot until I sat in it. I really like the truck but I'm not sure I can get enough of that smell out of it!!

100+ degrees today and I got to go and recover my personal belongings and remove a bunch of stuff from truck before it goes to salvage.

I removed my entire navigation/stereo system and put the factory stuff back in. Swapped out the keyless entry module so I don't have to get new fobs or pay to have them programmed to the new truck. Pulled the Husky floor liners, custom console, bluetooth mirror, Dash Cam harnesses, Sirius receiver and antenna, Firestone airbags, hard Tonneau cover, bed liner, tailgate protector, battery and air cleaner all in less than 4 hours....

Went to pull my stainless drop hitch and realized that I did not bring the key for it with me. :(

I feel your pain. I worked at the local car wash for 8 yrs growing up and it was amazing how many vehicles came in looking like that. Straight up disgusting and they were always the ones that wouldn't tip
