the trivial complaints thread

I haven't heard back from the guy I interviewed with.

Quick poll of interviewers and interviewee's, do you let someone know they didn't make the cut? Or... if you interviewed, did you get a "hey thanks for your time we picked Steve cause it looks like his head will fit up my ass" (last part is just for BK lol)

in my experience, maybe 1 in 10 employer's will let you know that you weren't chosen.

There was a seasonal management job I really wanted and I even asked a previous long time boss/mentor; very well known in my field to send a recommendation letter to the manager. Nada, not a single reply or returned phone call. Really pissed me off. I wouldn't have been so peeved about it if they had told me they chose someone else instead of ignoring me.

We do call either way, it's just the right thing to do. I sit on the first round interview panel for electricians here and it's fairly easy at that point to see who knows their stuff, who doesn't, and who might be a good learner, but we've made a bad hire here/there even with the second round being much more in depth.

Related to this, I 'interviewed' for a new job on Friday and will continue the conversation this Friday. That's the first time in around 17 years that I've been on the interviewee side. I put quotes on the interviewed because it was mainly a casual conversation/walk around with the owner and CEO of the company to see if I'm a good fit there and vice versa. After over 20 years at the same company, I may be moving...

There is your problem, plus you're an outsider in a family run business. I'd look around.
I would not want to be on commission. With competitive bidding I do not have the final say so on some pricing. So, How would I get paid. 1 Estimator is mainly dealing with Insurance, Jobs given to him. Other Estimator handles outside sales, when someone just wants new flooring. There is no fair way to handle commission sales. Been here 17 years now. Just have to deal with Jackasses that think they are better than everyone...

Look around is what I was getting at. 17 years, you're in your mid-40's, do you want another 17 years of the same thing? Is it getting better?

Those are questions you have to ask yourself and answer honestly. If you're fine with it, then quit bitching about it because that's your choice to stay in that environment.

I may, There been some changes. Boss just stepped down a few weeks ago, Basically swapped with his son. Who not has full authority for day to day operations. There are 3 owners here, Brother and Sisters. Will be keeping an eye out. But I could not go work anywhere else and make what I do here or have the freedom I do.....

Bought 4 pairs of pants for work. Two tan, two black. All the same exact manufacturer, size and model#, and all had the same care instructions. Tried all 4 on. They all fit great. Washed and dried all 4 together. Tan ones still fit perfectly, black ones are like skin on baloney now.

Every time we order Carhart pants at work, Judy, (one of the owners) always pays for them. She likes the look of them and that she also looks at it as a little bonus for them. Last order I got 2 khaki and 2 light olive. The khakis, fit like a size smaller............. No Quality Control

I sent an e-mail to the guy I interviewed with yesterday, 1 week after the interview. I got an automatic response saying he's on vacation until the 18th. So i'll send him an email on the 19th and check in.

The good news (wrong thread) but I stand to make a lot more money soon with my current job. So regardless what happens i'll be good.

Amen brotha, it amazes me there isn't more wrecks.
Another thing that pisses me off is the way people drive in a parking lot,

This.

I hate when people treat parking lots as if it was a giant free driving area, speed through them and blow through pedestrian crossings.

I was nearly run over last year by some douchnozzle. Unfortunately I've had way too many close calls by people like this. There is absolutely no good reason to fly through a parking lot.

Yeah me to ppl driving wrong side of parking lot, not watching where there going.
What really pisses me of you go to turn into a quick stop and the entrance ppl are in the middle or your side trying to exit

speed through them and blow through pedestrian crossings.

Here in Colorado we have a city (Boulder) that puts pedestrian crossings damn near in the middle of the highway. Most cities would put a crosswalk at the street light. Not Boulder. They sneak them in wherever they think people may want to cross to enjoy some bird watching or take a stroll through an overgrown grass field.... This idiotic mentality leads to a situation where a stupid hippie hits the crosswalk light mid stroll without bothering to stop and give cars 5 seconds to slow down, cars slam on their breaks, all of a sudden 55mph traffic is stopped dead in the most unexpected place without any warning, the hippie gives you the finger because you were supposed to somehow anticipate him running across the highway and is mad you stopped 9 feet and 11" away instead of a solid 10" away, and the entire city government fuels this entitlement mentality by slapping every car who fails to stop on a dime with a wreck less endangerment ticket or whatever it is they charge you with. Boulder would ban every car that isn't a Prius or Subaru outback decorated with the obligatory coexist and Obama/biden stickers if they could. If north korea ever nukes America I pray that they bomb Boulder first.

Same thing in Amarillo by the hospitals, there's a light but not like a traffic light. Catches me off guard every time
