Yeah My tuning is set from XS. I was just hoping this pipe would really wake up the motor. How are you guys setting up you FCV? Is there a tool or just blowing? I don't know how you tune it to open at an certain rpm.

Curous how close pop off would be on the fcv across different setups people are happy with, I think they come out the box set at 3.5? Anyone have some #'s

Fcv settings are irrelevant from ski to ski. Every ski has a different amount of water pressure depending what pump and prop and intake configuration you have. Your best bet to compare it is to monitor what rpm it opens at. Pull it off of the stinger, hook up a tach, and hold it over board and see what rpm it opens at. You can just keep twisting it till it feels the best too. That way it's a little more guess work but will work too. Just make sure you don't ride for too long so you can make sure you're not overheating your waterbox. Also, make sure you put temp strips on the chamber and waterbox. Makes it a lot easier to dial in.

I have a chamber and manifold on the way, will be playing with it this weekend. Did you finish that phantom yet???

Hopefully this weekend, set some ufos last night for tank. Got to strap it all down, run my lines, decals, turf, pole.

What's up with everyone ditching their tnt waterboxes? Are you guys finding you make more power with a different box?

As far as I see all the the ones being sold are brand new, aka not ran or tested. I'm selling mine bc I prefer to just keep a large fuel cell for surf rides vs switching in and out tanks and waterboxs every time I ride surf.

Ohhhhh okay.
I heard from a couple people that they ditched their tnt box because they couldn't get their ski to run right with it so I'm real curious what the truth behind that is.

2nd don't fit, blowsion was nice enough to swap mine out for the offset one. Going to give it a try, haven't received it yet. Still unlikely too fit due its size and the lines on my hull. The offset will likely only push it into my tank but worth a shot.

Hey guys are there anymore 701 users on here running a 148 pump ?

Talked to just4fun and he told me his pitch with our similar setups, but I also want to see what everyone else is running.

Is anyone finding that it is a little tricky to get real good low end out of these pipes on smaller motors? I'm using a typical b pipe prop with a 9/15 cut back hooker so it's against the vanes, and I'm pretty sure I have to loosen up my pump a bit even with a bored nozzle and stubby cone. Mid to top is absolutely ridiculous with an enhancer and 3deg static advance, but bottom end didn't improve much. I've went from a 90-115 jet so far and bottom end hasn't really changed.

Also, that rumor I heard about the tnt box sacrificing power isn't necessarily false.. Talked to a couple people in the past few days that had a lack of bottom end response, swapped to a pfp waterbox and it was back..

What was wrong with a bpipe for your "setup"? Or am i missing something here....

Is the goal to see how many bolt-ons you can put on a tired 61x before it spits a crank seal and grenades?

Let me know when you are ready to sell that pipe next!!

Lol? This is not a thread meant to be a bash fest. My 61x is the exact opposite of tired. If you're going to sit here and bash me for running a laydown pipe on a 701, you might as well tell the dozens of people who are doing the same they're idiots. Not to mention CPT who runs dry PFPs on 61x single carb setups with great luck.. Fresh ported top end and bottom end was rebuilt three years ago. Mine is plenty strong to handle it.
Plan was a 800cc stroker but that fell through due to budget but I already sold my B pipe(which barely fits in my hull), figured I'd buy a laydown pipe like I originally planned on. After all, Tim stated it supposedly works well on all motors.
You can ask those who have ridden my ski, it works very well for a 61x. Nosing in flatwater flips and full setup wake 360s with not much ride time on this hull speaks for itself.

Why are you so offended roseand? I would run total loss and a lay down pipe on a 701. What's wrong with wanting to squeeze every last drop out of a motor? It it breaks fix it.

It would probably work better if you tuned the pump, then. How many mm are you from the vanes? And what other props have you tried?

Its frustrating having a ski that doesn't fit well with thw parts ya got, been there, built a superfreak before. I hear ya buddy, so tough when you have to switch gears halfway thru your vision of the build.
